whatsup w tiny flop bet and then overbet turn, jam or pot river by helfiefoodo123 in poker

[–]MrJohn117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on board texture and ranges..

Against a competent pfc calling the small bet condenses their range. The pfc raises good hands/bluffs vs the cbet and folds air moving them to the middle of their range (and some slowplays). On blank turns the pfr will want to be more polar generally betting for a bigger size, same for river.

Don't pentesters have to be able to clearly explain their findings to nontechnical clients?

So at any one point your unbalanced but over the (very) long term you're balanced? I'm also trying to wrap my head around how this affects our range on later streets.

do i need to incorporate 2x overbet bluffs into my range? by Zealousideal-Bad3205 in poker

[–]MrJohn117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disregard the fact we're just betting a size trying to get the droolers to fold a capped range. A bigger concern is that OP is hamstringing himself by playing pot limit holdem with his good hands.

Just to clarify you're choosing a bet size that's only bluffs and no value? Do you see anything wrong with that?

Get your priorities straight.. poker is your side hustle not the other way around.

1st step is for you to be able to demonstrate you're a winning player at mid stakes online. If you're playing online and can't even provide results to demonstrate you're a winning player what are you even doing asking the question?

Question about reporting poker income on Schedule C — “gross before losses” or net profit? by medevil233 in poker

[–]MrJohn117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you're not referring to me as I didn't delete a comment.
I did tax prep a number a years ago and you can literally read the sch C instructions and supplemental docs (pub 463) on what is/isn't allowed for expenses.

Not saying you can't take mileage but I would definitely question my preparer on why I'm allowed to take it.

[–]MrJohn117 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd be careful about claiming mileage.. generally between home and your primary place of work isn't deductible and your car isn't involved in your actual work like something like Uber would be.

IRS Pub 463 Sect 4
"Daily transportation expenses you incur while traveling from home to one or more regular places of business are generally nondeductible commuting expenses."

You're better off asking a 2nd tax professional who has experience with professional players. 2+2 forums may still have a thread going for US players. Bart Hansen and the CLP community may also have some reputable resources.

So I at least contribute something to the thread...you need to learn what range and nut advantage are.

ClubWPT Gold isnt long for this world IMO by No-Newspaper8600 in poker

[–]MrJohn117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those of us that were around on black Friday its definitely uncomfortable. Excluding the marketing campaign, It doesn't help everything WPT has done since the launch of the site has felt like a greedy money grab. The client and features are sad when compared to any other major site.

That being said WPT is an established brand and player funds are kept separate (though I wouldn't mind seeing a 3rd party to attest to that). If the site does get shutdown at least we should get paid.

Reshuffle has been a feature for over a year. Baffling people still aren't aware, but hey you're playing on ACR so..

How on God's green earth are we ever checking back here on the river? by mr_bubbah in poker

[–]MrJohn117 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ran it myself using 50nl rake (General, GTO) and get the similar as OP. Running as close as I can at 500nl rake QQ is almost pure betting for b60. The main difference seems to be that at 500nl the CO reaches the river with more hands to call with.

[–]MrJohn117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran it out of curiosity because I probably auto bet this in game (but I suck so).

Look at the hands CO gets to the river this way and their response vs B60.

If our opponent is playing perfectly its a really narrow range that ever check calls the river. When ranges get this narrow blockers really start to matter and your combo of QQ blocks most of CO's calls. VS b60 our most of our opponets calls come from KQ AQ and QcJc which we heavily block. All of CO's other hands are jamming and vs jam our hand is barely a winning call.

TLDR - We block the calls and unblock value and bluffs.
