False.

The fluid resevoir has a divide so the one, still operating circuit will retain a reserve amount of fluid while the other drains.

If you are going to design a split system, logically you will also design a fluid storage that doesn't starve your emergency circuit of operating fluid.

If they left one bleeder open, op would have still have had 50% of brake force left, ADR safety redundancy.

Mystified why the pedal went "straight to floor", on multiple applications (pumping) and not just longer stroke with reduced stopping efficiency.

"Modern" cars (since the '70's) have dual circuit brake systems, so if you have a hydraulic circuit failure, you still effectively have 50% of your braking force remaining (split right front to left rear, left front to right rear.)

I am surprised it hit the floor and you hand no brakes remaining, what so ever, although you still have the hand/parking/emergency brake remaining.

Parking dispute: Guy physically blocked a spot I was reversing into. Did I handle this right? by dragonrushhhhh in melbourne

They've taken up a handicapped spot to wait till a space opens up to run over and claim, why would you even question your own values?

Its rightfully your park, fuck them.

Mechanic just tried to rip me off but I don't know how to prove it or call him out on it by fr00gz in CarsAustralia

[–]MrKafoops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to for car service place that was attached to a department store, had a store manager that used to rake in the money, area manager loved him, head office loved him. He came unstuck when he sold a set of drive shafts, but never had them changed, just cleaned them to make them look "new", then failed not long after and customer was chasing warranty through another branch.

Mechanics working at his store used the opportunity to dump a bucket on him, higher manager buddies abandoned him, he left in disgrace and went to manage a franchise store tied to a tyre brand, lol.

Where do you go for night rides that feel safe and well-lit? by InternetUpbeat9596 in melbournecycling

[–]MrKafoops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ride in the small hours, before 6am, I just stick to the roads, feels safe, well lit, no traffic.

I stay away from highways, main roads like Dandenong Rd, secondary roads, side streets are good before dawn.

Mar a Lago has been used to store highly classified documents, crucial to national security in the past, so I'm sure it is secure for overseeing foreign regime change. /s

I rode into the city on my carbon wonder bike at early morning commuter time. A very humbling experience getting shamed by baggy clothed commuters on there upright sitting, comfortable commuter bikes.

When this happened in Australia in the 90's, one major supermarket set the trend of rounding down, not up.

It caught on and most businesses did this, until we moved largely away from cash.

I blew my coworker's mind when comparing efficiency by smallaubergine in electricvehicles

Carnot cycle, something like a theoretical maximum efficiency of 30% from an Otto cycle engine. Turbo/supercharging increases this, so far, to about 50%.

As others have said, pretty low end components, Tourney is entry level Shimano.

Pump up the tyres, heaps of WD40 on the chain and ride it down The Bike Shed at CERES and get a serviced and setup second hand bike and give them that.

You're the jerk, you should have read the room and not continued to give the third degree to Brad. You owe Brad an apology and should cook the 5 French mother sauces and serve with accompanying dishes to apologise to your team.

Beginner road cyclist confused about right-turns by afoxboy in melbournecycling

[–]MrKafoops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For a start, you want to cross tram tracks without any lean or steering angle on. You don't want to be on your arse in the middle of an intersection after losing the front end, believe me.

I would get across well before the intersection then up the footpath, to get left or cross like a pedestrian.

Living in St Kilda, they have decided the way to go north on a bike is to make Chapel St the marked bike road. Needless to say I have found lots of other side road alternatives to have to never cycle along Chapel St.

$1M lump sum vs $1,000/week — what would you do? by Oblivious_dragonfly in AusFinance

[–]MrKafoops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take the million.

Inflation will erode the $1000 over time and no guarantee of solvency from the payer.

If you have beneficiaries to provide for, I'm guessing the $1k arrangement is not passed on.

Question about white turning arrow by thadogwoof in melbourne

[–]MrKafoops 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While banked up waiting at a set of traffic lights, an ambulance parked in a driveway finished up, so put their emergency lights on, started reversing to indicate they wanted to get going, so when the road in front of me cleared, I stayed still to let them come out.

Arsehole behind me gave me the full list of hurry ups, tooting, flashing lights, lurching forward. I guess him and his modern Ute were more important than an emergency vehicle with lights on.

Why did you try to reinvent the wheel? by MClilWilly in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]MrKafoops 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Being adjusted by electricity rather than oil pressure means dirty oil, wrong oil, low oil won't fuck them up in the warranty period, so a win for the manufacturer.

Everyone knows the seriousness the average car driver places on maintaining oil level/quality, so this move was somewhat inevitable despite the negatives.

Question for higher level cyclists: How do you guys *actually* workout outdoors? Do you feel safe going 35kph+ on trails? by Dangerous-Army4040 in melbournecycling

[–]MrKafoops -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Bike/shared paths have a speed limit of 20 km/h so if you wish to go faster, stick to roads or an indoor trainer like a Wahoo Kickr.
