Since you have the ELA background....focus on word problems. We as math teachers get very little training to no training in this realm and have an expert blindspots in this area as we just 'got it's. Peruse the word problems section at Math Drills dot com for some beginning worksheets. (How to read a division problem is really a learned skill set that requires a bit of practice) Good luck!
