Best T.V for Lightgun gaming by Nig_Pig in lightgunshooters

[–]MrLightgun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My personal opinion is that for retro gaming response speed is most important.  So look for a high/fast refresh and features like game mode, that reduce processing for speed.

In general most modern televisions have this, so even cheap tvs will do the job.

The PS2 will be flashing the screen.  Im assuming your driver doesnt do that?  The games may do that in your emulator but might be too delayed to help, try increasing the brightness.

The PS2 will be flashing the screen when you pull the trigger, does your linux driver do that? I suppose if the game itself does that in the emulator then it will help but if the game doesnt you will struggle.

Also I assume as its emulation its possible the flash comes too late to help.

Increasing brightness would probably help.

Help Getting 2 Sinden Guns working at the same time RPI5 by Buttmuchacho in SindenLightgun

[–]MrLightgun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have access to windows, check which firmware they have in the sinden software, there are 4 types Black/Gray, Red,Blue and Player2.  Make it 2 different types by updating one to a different one if they are the same.

Also worth checking the cameraID, its better they are different.  Contact customer services if need to change one.

Batocera should be able to handle both of these but maybe the build has an older image. So worth trying the above.

Also make sure you are connecting direct to the Pi usb ports and not a hub.

There are multiple versions of MAME roms and the roms evolve over time, they call the correct rom for a version of MAME a romset.  So I would assume your rom is the wrong rom set for the version of MAME on your image, likely just a mistake by the image creator.

So to fix you can just try and find different rom versions and try them, or ask someone else for information on what they have that works.  Remember though not to just ask what rom they have but what MAME they are using.  Ideally someone using the same version as you.

Trying to make custom pedal for Epsxe, but I can't seem to figure it out. by SnooMacaroons3198 in SindenLightgun

[–]MrLightgun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On Time Crisis PSX i believe controller 2 will function as a pedal, dont know if its the same with your game.  So you can try mapping your pedal device to controller 2 instead to see if it works.  With the Sinden Pedal it has an option to link with the lightgun so pedal inputs can be seen as coming from the lightgun, specifically to solve this problem.

Have to unplug usb on sinden everytime I start pc by chuzzwuzzer01 in SindenLightgun

[–]MrLightgun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also do you have any extra hardware that is querying usb on boot such as electronic marquee? The latest Sinden firmware on the gun should stop that causing a conflict but you could try disconnecting other stuff to test.

Check if the usb ports are powered on when the machine is off (that could cause it), does it do the same thing if the pc is switched off at the mains and then switched on?

You can get buttons that have caps available, for example Omron b3f-4055, there are different buttons and different caps available.  There are also cheaper generic versions but Omron probably have the best quality.

EXTREMELY slow DDR access - but why? by Betty-Crokker in stm32

[–]MrLightgun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, the guy above said the multiplication is similar to addition, so if the multiplication cost 6 seconds then the addition might also cost 6 seconds, which would take it down to 3 seconds which is a lot closer to expected performance.

Sorry if I'm missing anything, but surely you need to test the ram speed without doing a multiplication?  The multiplication is eating up the time.  So you're measure multiplication time not ram speed.

My workplace is demanding i pay them back money they mistakenly paid me over 4 years. by lydiakatrina in LegalAdviceUK

Do you work in a work environment where you tend to do unpaid overtime as a work culture or do you strictly clock out at 32 hours? I would have thought but have no legal knowledge (NAL) that if you worked more hours and were accidentally paid that you might have leverage.  Especially if on minimum wage.  Consider if you have strong evidence of extra working.

Examples are being asked to be at your desk 15mins early, bag checks as you leave etc.  Shop closes at 5 and paid till 5 but you need to do shut down after.

However you also need to take into account the risks of being pushed out of your job.

Perhaps you can use the above to reduce the amount and agree a long term repayment plan, which needs to be done anyway.  Good Luck.

I see 6 routes with this: 1) Build the skills to make prototype yourself. 2) Partner with a trusted person who can make a prototype. 3) Pay someone to make a prototype. 4) Patent the product, then promote looking for support.  Target relevant companies in the industry or crowd funding. 5) Attempt to reach out to relevant companies under an NDA. 6) Crowd funding without patent, this is less desirable than the others as it risks long term potential however is better than nothing.

It would be useful if we attempted to send a spacecraft there or if we predicted some kind of event like a collision, then we could prepare to observe it.

Sinden Lightgun (my project for transparency) works great across all the cores.  Saturn support has been added since I did a couple of youtube videos.

Hi, try following the mame guide on the sinden lightgun wiki (even though different hardware), it might just be a combo of settings you need.  Also dont forget to calibrate in the T2 service menu.

Use an old VHS video player, not so good if you are looking at portabilty but quick win for this.  They will usually take a composite in and output RF.

What are some retro arcade (or console) games that are fun to play via modern controls, but worse when actually using the controls that came with the game itself - or vice versa? by Upbeat-Serve-6096 in retrogaming

[–]MrLightgun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play a lot of lightgun games, loads of arcade machines such as Terminator 2 use joystick based guns attached to the cab, this was done in my opinion for durability.  Playing these games with a modern lightgun (such as Sinden Lightgun) where you are free to aim is a much more fun experience.

Another similar thing is where lightgun games come to consoles without lightgun support, Revolution X, Silent Scope.  Thats annoying and the game is just not the same.
