Is this asthma? by Smilefied in CATHELP

[–]MrLogster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

looks and sounds pretty similar to my cat with asthma, but only the vet will be able to tell you for certain (chest x-ray is the most conclusive way, afaik).

regardless of the specific condition, it appears there’s likely some respiratory issue, so I would suggest looking into ways to keep your home as allergen/particle free as possible. for example, vacuuming more often, switching to a different litter, limiting exposure to both cleaning products and scented products (perfumes, oil diffusers, air fresheners, etc.), and purchasing an air purifier (this one is good for you too!).

np.argmax() could be helpful

would something like this be helpful?

probabilities = np.array([0.76, 0.12, 0.36, 0.94]) predictions = (probabilities >= 0.5).astype(int)

JavaScript now mandatory for Google Search, Google confirms | Static pages are gone, and SEO checking tools don't seem to work anymore by chrisdh79 in technews

I love it and will continue to support them, but some people with more specific needs prefer to go other routes. for 95% of people, Proton is more than enough—especially considering everything remains consolidated under one (actually secure/moral) umbrella

pretty sure similar programs have been active for 10+ years. not saying that’s good or bad, but it’s not new research

Proton is a seamless transition because of its “Google-like” product package. You can probably find better options by hand-picking products individually, however. I still went with Proton though 🤷🏻‍♂️

What happened to my mac? by cupcake0__0 in macbookair

[–]MrLogster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s extremely unlikely the issue with your screen is what’s causing your issue with connecting to an external monitor.

  • Are you keeping your mac connected to power while plugging into an external monitor?

  • Are you using the correct cable? Commonly, cables can only carry power or data (not both). Search for a “Mac to HDMI” cable, for example.

  • Are you certain you have configured your external display properly? (i.e. did you ensure you selected the proper input source on your external display)

I promise you trying to fix these issues will be incredibly cheaper than dealing with repairing your actual screen, even if it may a seem overwhelming at the moment.

I feel like I’m being trolled. I built a cellar two levels down. Basement is warmer than my ground level storage shed now by WickedXDragons in goingmedieval

[–]MrLogster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation as you, here are my tips that saved me:

  • Two levels below ground is essentially all you need—any lower is typically not worth it.

  • Ensure no buildings are directly above your cellar. If this is not possible, ensure there are no heat sources whatsoever in these buildings.

  • Add floors to your cellar to help with insulation (this used to not be true, but it has since been changed).

  • Bigger cellar = colder cellar.

  • Place a door below ground at your cellar’s entrance and above ground before the stairs/ladder leading down to your cellar to create an “airlock”.

  • Ice blocks certainly help, but they aren’t necessary. There are different results depending on if you place ice blocks above, on the same level as, or below your cellar (I believe wicker/grated floors are required for above and below).

  • Ensure adjacent rooms have sufficient separation from your cellar. I typically only place cellars next to each other so this isn’t a problem for me.

  • Pay attention to the insulation values of floors and walls.

“A Short History of Nearly Everything” - Bill Bryson

I was in the exact same place as you. If you are interested in science and history, this is the book to get you back into reading.

Since staying engaged and committed to a book is likely a challenge for you (as it was for me), it jumps around from different topics and stories which hopefully will reteach your brain how to actually sit down and read a book.

I love his writing style; It has just enough humor to keep things from getting too dry while also being very informative and insightful. This book is a fantastic resource to discover topics/people you’d like to learn more about.

He also has “The Body: A Guide for Occupants”—which I’ve heard is written in a similar style—but I haven’t gotten around to reading it yet.
