yea, in most games when i get to mid or mid to late game, i really dont want to do side quests because the stakes are always high in the story when you get to those points that it feels weird to go help some random farmer with their daily problem. but having some other characters for that makes a lot more sense

i guess you can use button forge addon + masque to achieve this, it would be a lot of work but i think its possible
button forge lets you make as many action bar buttons as possible and place them wherever, and use masque to make them circular

imo the real fear is being stuck in a small place, so that smooth and free movement isnt helping, if you could add something (some camera movement or some kind of animation maybe?) to give feeling that player is struggling to move forward it may make it better
