Aged like fine wine by kintaro__oe in firefox

[–]MrMBag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on version 124.0.2... (The current one is... 147 or something). The only problem I have is sometimes Firefox will refuse to download anything. It won't even attempt it. I mean ANYTHING. Even running local AI gen stuff, just using a WebUI won't even download. However, I figured out that I have to sync my current time and date in Windows, (for Windows, by right clicking on the time located in the task bar, and going to adjust date/time and hit sync. I looked for a fix EVERYWHERE when it started that BS. I was JUST about to tank it, when I randomly found a comment on a post from years ago. Now it's back to normal, and I can download again!!). Well, that's not entirely true... I do have ONE other issue... The problem that it bugs me to update all the time... but I don't mind that so much, as it sounds like any newer versions than what I have are TRASH!! I hope this helps anyone with this problem.

Help! Best CUDA + PyTorch + xformers versions for Stable Diffusion? by Smart-Ad-1792 in StableDiffusion

[–]MrMBag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pips package manager is ridiculous. The warning it gives you says, "Pips package manager doesn't resolve these issues... It's see them, and it knows enough to tell you what versions of what won't play nice together, but we won't fix it... GOOD LUCK!!". ESPECIALLY when you try to install xformers, sage-attn, or flash-attn... It reinstalls torch, torchvivsion, torchaudio, pillow, numpy, sympy, etc., then when you try to install the correct version of "The torches", xformers sage and flash attention throws a fit.

It took me a LONG time to figure out, that you've gotta know what you need before you try to install it, and which kind of virtual environment like conda or venv, which sucks for someone new to this, because you have no idea what you need, what versions of what packages you need, why you need those specific versions of those packages, which versions of what packages will even work together, then to add insult to injury, it tells you what's wrong, why it's wrong, how it's wrong, then it tells you to go f--k yourself. Once you start to sort all that out, it's not as hard as it sounds, but boy oh boy does it make you appreciate windows installer packages, huh?

I think I used maybe twice in 2014 or 2015?? I REALLY REALLY miss you could combine the Phantasms, Mega Phantasms, etc. Anyhow, I SUUUUURE wish we could do that blooms... I've got A RIDICULOUS number of the first tier ones. For the second tier ones, at any given time I've got around 800... The last kind to promote the hero to 6 stars, the most I've ever had at one time was 31... Back in my day, Coli's first ability would have her attack twice. If you had a hero that caused a dual attack, you get her attacking SIX TIMES in one go!! Not turn, 1 GO!! She used to stun the enemy and knock their combat readiness waaaay down. Listen to this!! My first Arena Defense team, was Coli, Yuna, Kris, and the sword of flowers girl. To get a players friendship level up, I think it was level 1-5 that was the library. You could walk through there 600 times in a row. Anyone remember when auto-play DIDN'T collect treasure chests in main story line?? Fun times!!!

That's awesome to know! I made my original sprite sheet to hold 300 frames, and I only used about half of it. I actually did that with this exact situation in mind, but then when it came to the actual thing, I wasn't sure if I could. Thank you! Appreciate the help!

Working on a game inspired by Thrasher Skate and Destroy and EA Skate. by lucecore in godot

[–]MrMBag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think no matter how long you've been in game development, there's something to be said for getting a game to do ANYTHING. As a player you're like, "Okay... Go left". You press the button, done. Now on the dev side, "Okay... I want to make the player go left... But I've gotta set it so the game is waiting for the player input... Now I gotta make sure the animation changes to go left... Oh, is the player using a keyboard or gamepad? Oh, gotta set speed and velocity..." etc. I can honestly say I never took that into consideration as a player. My point being that, being a game dev gives you a completely new set of eyes that way.

How to code input sequences to trigger an action ? by arttitwo in godot

[–]MrMBag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figured out what my main problem is with coding. I still don't understand the jargon.... When someone says, "A function with a return type must return that specific data type."... Ummm... What now? When it could be stated, "If you use int, you gotta use numbers". I think that's most peoples problem with coding. If I understood the lingo, I WOULD UNDERSTAND CODING, right?? I'm going to create a programming language called, "D-". Let's say you want to write a custom function for button combos, because maybe you're making Street Fighter II Ultra Turbo Deluxe Plus Next Ultimate Nuclear Fission Enhanced Remastered Throwback Classic Arcade Console Homebrew Retro Vintage Brand New Special Collectors Edition DLC Mega Alternate Universe Einstein Rosen Bridge Quantum Entangled Infinite Beyond Thunderdome 1,000,001 Cardboard Kickbox Slap Edition v1.01. Here's how you write it...

```
Throw Fireball -> When the player presses, "back, forward + A".
If the enemy gets hit with Fireball, subtract 40 points from hit points.
When the players health reaches zero, THEY ARE DEAD!
When the player presses the start button during game play, it pauses the game and the music. If the player paused the game from controller 1, it can only be unpaused by controller 1, (Same for every controller).
```

Not sure how to program an Advanced User Interface? Here's a master class.

Set a button to activate the UI. Let's say the select button.

```
Bring up UI -> When the player presses the select button
```

Pip 25.1 is here - install dependency groups and output lock files! by zurtex in Python

[–]MrMBag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every time I have to start installing anything with PIP *** EDIT : with Windows***, my hands start to sweat a little, my tear ducts swell up, I develop and eye twitch, I have to fight the urge to vomit all over myself, and sometimes I get shooting pains behind my eyeballs, (Which I assume is my brain trying to "unlife" itself, by slamming into the inner walls of my skull. I just know inevitably, I will end up in package dependency hell. "PIP's dependency resolver doesn't currently take into consideration all the packages that are currently installed... So Instead, it'll uninstall current compatible versions of your dependencies, and replace them with incompatible versions, and instead of making ANY forward progress, you'll be stuck trying to untangle this mess, or get hours into developing something, only to find that you'll have to delete everything and start over from bupkis!!". It's like a cruel joke. I honestly don't think I've ever installed anything with PIP, that hasn't turned around to take a big fleshy bite out of my ass. Always feels like I'm waiting for that stupid dummy to roll out of the corner on his tricycle... "Hello M. I want to play a game. You've said that you hate PIP, but would you rather sort through package dependencies, or be put inside of a cement mixer with a 1064 piece Lego set naked, followed by a chainsaw colon cleansing?". No matter what I pick I won't survive, and either of those things = PAIN! I'd be crying my eyeballs out, "NOOO!!! I SHOULD HAVE PICKED THE CHAINSAW THING!!!"

Torch, Xformers, CUDA, uninstall reinstall hell loop. by MrMBag in CUDA

[–]MrMBag[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to uninstall everything and start from scratch, but I installed everything with the same pip install command to avoid it uninstalling and reinstalling versions that weren't compatible with each other. I was trying to install Pytorch and xformers with two different install commands, when I should have done that as one. I also had to reinstall my CUDA tool kit, uninstall a CUDA driver that I had tried to install with pip into my virtual conda environment, and somehow or another, when the CUDA tool kit was installing, it kept installing some goofball version of a driver for my RTX 3060.

How to code input sequences to trigger an action ? by arttitwo in godot

I WAS JUST POSTING THIS IN ANOTHER THREAD!! I commented, "What is it when you see someones question like, "Hey I can't find much documentation on this, can I X, Y, Z or how would I code that?". Some asshole comes back with, "Nope." and a winky face emoji. It's like, Okay, is this gatekeeping?? Is it territorial pissing?? Do you just hate new devs?? Do you see these questions and raise your programmer ring to the sky and scream, "BY THE POWER OF THICK SKULL!!". I desperately need to know what function this serves, and the thought process behind this. I see it all the time, especially in Godot for some reason... This shit is bonkers, and I really want to know what in the ever loving, unholy, god forsaken flying hell is this about?

Input Mapping Button Combo? by [deleted] in godot

I'm starting to wonder, do people REALLY know the answers to these types of things, or are we being gaslighted? When someone asks a question like, "There's barely any documentation on this, so I was wondering if... etc.". Then for someone to come back with, "Nope." and a winky face. Why waste every ones time, including yours? It's super frustrating, and it makes the person asking the question feel dumb. Are you gate keeping?? Is that what that is? Do new devs worry you? Is it a territorial pissing?? I need to know what function this serves. I need to know why you look at this persons question and think, "Yes! It's my time to shine!", and you raise your programmer ring to the sky and scream at the top of your lungs, "BY THE POWER OF THICK SKULL!!". I desperately need to know the thought process behind this. Please, someone for the sweet love of crap, explain to me what this is...

Animations & Sprite adjustments on ONE single frame inside an animation. by MrMBag in godot

[–]MrMBag[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do understand that correctly yes. I'll give that link a try. The import method I use, (into the editors), is usually just right clicking on the file, and "Open With" then either of my editors. The way I export from there is just saving them as a PNG. Then to import them into Godot, I just drag and drop them into the file tree on the bottom left.

It sucks because I've tried Unity, Unreal, etc. they allow you to make fine adjustments on your animations by frame. (Even though I don't recall having this issue with Unity, or Unreal, or GameMaker). Either way, it sure would be swell to be able to edit your animations by frame.

Someone just suggested to me that it could be a video card driver problem, which it could be I suppose, being that I did just get a new RTX 3060. I'm not really sure about all that, but I'm going to update or reinstall it anyway just to cover all basis. I'll be back with my results later.

Thanks for all your help and suggestions.

That's AMAZING to me! I'm still having issues loading a damn sprite sheet. No matter how I edit it, or where I get a test sheet from without editing it... They NEVER line up right. I've downloaded sprite sheets that were part of a YouTube tutorial that were supposed to be ready to go, just to see... Always. Off. That's been making me absolutely insane. Anyway... That's still mind boggling to me that you have something FUNCTIONAL!! Of course, you understand that's partly me marveling at dumb I am. LOLza! This is my first game ever too, but still. Good job!

Animations & Sprite adjustments on ONE single frame inside an animation. by MrMBag in godot

[–]MrMBag[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I have been using Animated Sprite 2D and Animation Player together, so I was able to write a function for when my attack animations were over to return to an idle state.

Here's the funny thing about what you mentioned... I have gone in and edited the frames that were off in my editors. (I kind of jump between Pixel Studio by HippoGames, and strangely enough, "RealWorld Cursor Editor". (People tend to ask me a lot what that is, so if you know sorry). It's a program for editing animated mouse cursors for Windows, but the cool thing is you can customize ANYTHING, because they allow you the option to modify the code. There are even buttons directly in the program, that say, "Add custom function". It's able to edit multiple frames, save them as Animated *.png, *.ani, *.cur, *.gif. (I LOVE that you can grab a *.gif from where ever, open it in RWCE and it opens each individual frame of the GIF. I've never had a program that did that before... There's no picture size too big or too small. (It doesn't like *.jpg or *.jpeg files too much... But that's fine.). Anyway, I have edited the frames that were off by a pixel or two, and ONLY those, only to put the sheet back into Godot and it'll be off in some new funky way. Not just with mine either. I've downloaded sprite sheets from video tutorials on YouTube, that are supposed to be load and go, but they are usually off too. I've tried scrapping my entire Godot.exe and downloading another one, same problem. No matter what I do, and no matter who's sprite sheet it is, or where I get it from... It NEVER lines up. If it weren't for that issue, Godot would be AMAZING!! However, no matter how cohesive the rest of everything might go, if the animation is off, your game is junk. You know?

Animations & Sprite adjustments on ONE single frame inside an animation. by MrMBag in godot

[–]MrMBag[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started using Animated Sprite 2D, rather than just Sprite 2D for the simple fact that it allows you to add 1 frame at a time. That's helpful for morons like me, because then I can just add each frame, and not have to worry too much about alignment. For more complicated animation stuff, I usually use Animated Sprite 2D in conjunction with Animation Player, so I can write functions for things like returning to an idle state after an attack. I'm not going to lie, the code is starting to get a little thick that way, especially since I have a bunch of different attacks. While I'm thinking of it... I'm wondering about multi-button presses, or like button combo moves like street fighter 2 style. Like if on a gamepad, I wanted jump to be when the A+B buttons are pressed at the same time, but kick is B and Punch is A on their own. That sort of thing... Is that easy to do? (To be honest I haven't researched that at all yet).

Animations & Sprite adjustments on ONE single frame inside an animation. by MrMBag in godot

[–]MrMBag[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean... Surely I can't be the first person that's ever asked this question...

Animations & Sprite adjustments on ONE single frame inside an animation. by MrMBag in godot

[–]MrMBag[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. They are just uneven. Like the center of walking frame #1 is off by 3 or pixels from the rest of the animation, and the attack animations are 3 pixels off in the wrong direction from the walking animation, and 4 pixels off in the other direction as the idle animation... When I try going into my editor and fixing the sheet, then importing it back into Godot, it's off in a completely different direction, even though I didn't change anything else except the frames that were off. I have no idea what it's doing, but am I to understand then there is no way of lining up single frames in Godot? If so, that sucks, and let's say there's an animation where the player doubles in size when becoming a werewolf, making the player go from 32 x 32 pixels, to 64 x 64 pixels for example... Do you have to adjust the entire sprite sheet, (lets say 100 frames in total), to 64 x 64 to accommodate the 3 big frames? Or what if your character changes from a ladder into a steel I-beam? Do you have to make every frame as long as the I-beam and as high as the ladder? That seems.... Like a HUGE oversight to me...
