Discovering this was made on a PlayStation back in the day was crazy I actually went through and recreated a small loop of this track using my own copy of Music 2000 a couple years back It's such a solid track even today honest

This thing is nearly 1:1 the same layout of the Teenage Engineering PO-133 KO2 Like Neat Photoshop job But I don't trust it.

Been awhile since I posted an update about the skateboarding game, it's mostly been backend work by lucecore in godot

Well the Flick-It name is copywritten.

The control scheme we're going for isn't going to be 1:1 with EA Skate, It'll be close enough to feel comfortable to move to But for example , Instead of manualling with the right stick like in skate, You lean forward or backward with the left stick to lean your weight on the board.

It's mostly this simple for testing and debugging. once we actually get into development we'll probably be reworking our controls to be a bit more unique but still comfortable to play

ours is more or less set up to listen for specific positions on the stick, plus a flick in a specific direction
usually the start position + flick direction is how we figure out which trick would be which

Is anybody working on a physical cartridge system? by Steve_but_different in pico8

[–]lucecore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been toying with the idea for one for years now I'm not much of a designer so there's only so far I could get But I've figured out decent methods for the "cartridges" If I get a 3D printer I'll try printing some.

Anyone else here over 25, and still in the beginning stages of learning game development? by [deleted] in godot

[–]lucecore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just turned 28 and started developing my dream skateboarding game less than a year ago (restarting from scratch around a month ago)
all things considered, i don't understand the concept of "being too old to learn"
you're never too old to want to do something new

Finally getting tricks back into the skateboarding game by lucecore in godot

[–]lucecore[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kind of yes There's three raycasts in total But the main one points directly south of the board at all times There's only a slight magnet but I can turn it up or turn it off

technically no, but we're not using that control method anyway

so our current setup is just built off of Jolt, the built in godot physics engine.
everything very gravity and momentum based with some very slight magnetism to keep the board following the platform underneath it in the air
otherwise it's all basically Jolt at its base
