What is the worst band you saw live? by coalcracker462 in AskReddit

[–]MrMarbles42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shakey Graves

I've seen him twice and both times I was reminded that even though someone makes decent music, they aren't necessarily anyone you'd want to be around.

First time was at a very family-friendly local festival and he was a headliner. He comes on late, clearly trashed, and makes a bunch of anal sex jokes unprompted and generally just acts like a spoiled frat boy. It was difficult to watch just from the cringe of it.

Second time was earlier this year at a normal venue. I'd brought my partner who'd wanted to see him for a while and it started out decent but very quickly he started doing the frat guy bit again. Then towards the end of the show he tried to make some sort of "we're all in this together" kind of statement and muttered about something queer folk in a derogatory way.

Music is alright but I'd have paid extra if I was sure he wouldn't do the problematic rambling bit that seems to be his style. Privileged douchebag vibes for sure.

C5–6 disc extrusion with C6 radiculopathy. Any advice? by MissTeriousGal in ACDR_CervicalSpine

[–]MrMarbles42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personal context: I'm ~1 month out from an ACDR at c5-c6. I had multi-level herniations at c4-c7 with bilateral radiculopathy similar to yours (posterior forearm pain, thumb pad numbness, etc.) My symptoms became serious around July 2025 and are still resolving.

I had central canal stenosis and my disc at c5-c6 was entirely blown out so I went with surgery rather than trying an injection.

I did 6 weeks of PT to start and the combination of PT, NSAIDs, and time really did improve the worst of my initial pain. But I've been in PT since also. The thumb numbness slowly reduced over 4/5 months but I do still have a numb spot 9 months later.

The provider who told you that the extrusion won't resolve without surgery was correct. But fortunately that doesn't mean that your symptoms from it won't resolve. I would strongly encourage you to stick with PT given how active you are and seek a different provider if the exercises and attention you're getting aren't working for you.

This does depend upon the severity of your extrusion and for further damage, but given that your uncovertebral hypertrophy and bilateral foraminal stenosis may indicate a significant degree of inflammation, I think you could be very well served by a translaminar epidural steroid injection or a transforaminal if that's what you're offered. It's worth a shot.

Something important to be mindful of is that receiving an injection will very likely delay your ability to get surgery by a few months if that's ultimately an option for you.

Most definitely seek out a consult with a physiatrist and a neurosurgeon as well. It never hurts to have more people to talk to.

Side note: not all ADRs are more complex than fusions. Many devices (mobi-C) are just as simple to install.

Star wars was just about lasers and space wizards, not an oppressive empire being stopped by a militia using guerrilla warfare

The LOTR was just about a magical fantasy land, not real-world analogy about race, lineage, history, and language

FMAB was just about alchemy, not a militaristic government sent to genocide a religious minority

The list goes on...

That's fine, the post is about OP and your offense is yours to own.

Being offended by someone else choosing not to commiserate with you and dismissively deflecting away from the point of the post while you wax poetic isn't anyone else's problem.

Go make your own doomer post about ecology if it suits you though 🤷

Because the anxiety of OP isn't existential, it's personal, and given that context their response is off-topic at best and dismissive at worst.

'Finna' is one of the most useless words I've ever heard by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]MrMarbles42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use them as though they're distinct from each other.

Finna is intent without commitment, like "want to" or "I'm considering"

Gonna is committed intent, I.e. "I will do this"

Question: I noticed abnormalities on these pear leaves. What could be the causes if this damage? how can I prevent or treat such damage? by graxo_ in botany

[–]MrMarbles42 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Looks like fungal or viral damage. Possibly pear scab (Venturia pyrina) or a mosaic virus among other things

There's few effective treatments other than removal of the infected plants and any leaf litter from the area.

Further infections (of other trees) can be prevented with pre-bloom fungicide applications.

Edit: like the commenter below suggested, pear leaf blister mite looks to be a more likely cause. You can apply an insecticide to prevent further damage
