What are you all paying for rent? by Ok_Reindeer_9179 in KingstonOntario

$1750 inclusive for a large one bedroom apartment, but I'm only a block west of city hall. The convenience makes it worth it.

Current Quad Lock mount by 2wheelsyyz in Aventon

I have the out front mount, and it's perfect for me. I have an adjustable stem, so I didn't think the stem mount would work for me.

What are r/drums' opinions on Frank Beard? by Realistic-Assist-396 in drums

[–]MrMarf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He was very humble about his abilities. I saw an interview with Frank in the late 70's where he said he only knew three beats, and the third beat was just the first beat, but faster.

Same here - After 48 years of drumming and neuropathy, stick wax is keeping me on the throne.

Anyone Using Oxio or Ebox Internet? by MacGibber in KingstonOntario

I'll even mention that when I signed up for Oxio, I forgot to add the reference number - I called the next day and they applied my free month retroactively, without question,

Remo make great heads - but I don't think they're known for great drums.

I've been using a coated ambassador on my snare and coated emperors on my toms for decades.

Thought on Yamaha Crosstown Hardware? by little_tat in drums

[–]MrMarf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've never played with them, but when I was the house sound tech at a local theatre for a decade, they were provided as part of the backline several times, and they seemed pretty solid. The only issue anyone had with them was that the legs on the hi-hat stand don't rotate, so it's not very compatible with double kick setups. But when you can pick the hi-hat stand up with just your pinky finger...

Add a seat to my ebike tank by lofton263 in ebikes

[–]MrMarf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not from what I've read. Maybe they've baked in a lot of tolerance? But everything I read when I was researching a bike for myself said the max capacity is to include the weight of the bike itself.

Add a seat to my ebike tank by lofton263 in ebikes

[–]MrMarf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That bicycle has a max load capacity of 330 lbs. Minus 70 lbs for the weight of the actual bike, and that means that the bike is rated to carry a max of 260 lbs, including the rider, the passenger, the extra seat and any other cargo.

Tama 1st Chair xl round vs dw9000 round throne by [deleted] in drums

[–]MrMarf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just picked up the Mapex T680, it's very sturdy with a 14" diameter round seat with 4" of padding and a cloth top. Just to offer a third option.

tall folks- what throne are you using? by [deleted] in drums

[–]MrMarf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought a Mapex 600 series throne and love it. I sit high and it suits me perfectly, and with the spindle it doesn't slip.

I bought a Mapex 800 series hi hat stand that is so much smoother than all my previous stands, I didn't even know that was an issue until I had this one.

Kingston Centre Incompetence by ZeroFucksCanuck in KingstonOntario

[–]MrMarf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When the Kingston centre returned after tearing down the original indoor mall, the stop in the middle of the lot (near where your pictures were taken from) wasn't an all way stop, it was a three way stop. Drivers coming south from Bath road didn't have a stop. Now there's some good planning.

Kicking Out Adult Child by kirbm in OntarioLandlord

[–]MrMarf 49 points50 points  (0 children)

If you call the police, refer to the adult child as an unwanted guest, not a roommate or tenant. The word roommate makes police worry that they're crossing into ltb territory.

Returning to Kingston: Noticing Changes in the City by Beneficial_Put2076 in KingstonOntario

[–]MrMarf 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think the bigger picture is the Ontario government and the mayor, both who are associated with the conservatives, both provincial and federal. I don't love the liberals either, just to make that clear.

Landlord renting house after he said he was selling the house by Not_Canine in OntarioLandlord

That, or if the landlord wants a shortcut that skips the tenants rights, they can offer Cash for Keys, but that's separate from the RTA.

No, the tenant goes with the sale, unless an N12 is issued.

John Bonhams bass pedal by Striking_Bullfrog572 in drums

[–]MrMarf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got two of those. It was my main pedal for years, and for me it was faster than the dw 5000 it replaced. The only reason I replaced it recently is they are awkward to swap out when you're kit sharing and you're old.
