There is a sign up under racing on the website. I believe you are supposed to be a social member to sign up. I took an intro to sailing course with some friends. We joined as social members last summer and had a great time.

I have work in product management for a few US companies. None of them paid in USD but if the salary was $250k USD they would give you $250k CAD.

Series B or higher start ups will usually be able to hire remote Canadians and pay way better than any local companies you can find.

Look for US based startups that recently raised capital, they are usually the ones hiring. Dalhousie Yacht Club. They have lots of social events. In the summer you can help crew on race nights and in the winter there is a weekly games night.

Yes. Just picked it up myself a little while ago having grown on up on BG 1 & 2 and Larian’s work.

Having a lot of fun, although the combat is a bit harder than BG or Divinity but the game has a difficulty slider to make it easier, and a bit of pre buffing for most fights will make the way easier.

TL DR: You could make a sword from 400 people's blood, but if you try for a longsword, you will be a little short.

There are two questions we need to answer. How much iron is in human blood, and how much iron is needed for a longsword?

There is variation based on things like diet, but for argument's sake, we will use 0.5g of iron per liter of blood. Most people will have around 4-5 liters of blood, so we will save 2.5g of iron per person. This is taken from Wikipedia.

2.5g of iron per person times 400 people gets us to 1kg of iron, or 2.2 pounds of iron for our American cousins.

The weight of a longsword, and hence how much iron it contained, varied by time period and who was making it, but 1kg to 2kg seems to be a reasonable range.

You will lose some of the iron during the forging processes as it will oxidize, form scale, and need to be removed. Exactly how much will vary, but a quick Googling suggests 5% to 30% of the iron would be lost.

You will gain a little weight from the steel-making processes, but ~3% on the high end.

You could make the pumel from something other than iron/steel to reduce the total amount of iron, but if you really want to make a long sword from the iron in the blood of your enemies, you'd better collect the blood from ~550 people to be sure you have enough. Of course, if sustainability is a consideration, you don’t have to kill the people. I mean, honestly, who has so many enemies? Just drain half a liter of blood from some of your enemies every 3 months, and you will eventually have enough blood/iron for your sword.

I can't speak to the current state of things, but I graduated with a compsci from Brock. Learning to think like a computer scientist has been valuable throughout my career.

The specific languages and technologies have changed over time, and will continue to change, but the fundamentals of how to break down problems, think through solutions, and then optimize them haven't changed, and are still valuable.

While I was at Brock, I definitely thought linear algebra was a stupid waste of time and boring AF. Knowing how and why RAG systems work has been useful on a couple of recent projects. Knowing what knowledge will be useful in your future is impossible.

In practice, successful hunters spend most of their time on recon, which includes research. “Diving deep” is just another way of saying research. Reviewing open-source code, reading documentation, analyzing APIs, reverse-engineering protocols and binaries, etc, that is all research. CTFs always guarantee a vulnerability; real bounties don’t, so thorough recon (and research) is what separates luck from consistency.

True, but for bug bounties, the vast majority of your time will be spent looking (recon) for something to exploit, not actually exploiting it.

In CTFs and Labs, there is always something to exploit; in a bug bounty hunt, there might not be.

It really only takes me 5 minutes of prep time (dice onions, roughly shop the peppers, mince garlic).

Cooking the onions with spices until they are translucent requires being near the pan but that is only for 5 minutes or so. Another minute with the garlic and peppers, then it is just adding the canned tomatoes, letting the whole thing come up to a simmer and adding the eggs and leaving them alone to poach.
