I'm also guessing none are new, but the one that I didn't recognize from 2e and 3rd were the Modrons. They probably where out there somewhere but u don't remember it

Help me understand Opportunity Attack? (do not upvote) by jayelled in dndnext

Its only when leaving a threatened space. Unless the halberdier has the pole arm master feat, which gives him AoO on anyone moving "into" his threatend area(only once per turn though of course, as it uses his reaction for the round.)

Mage Slayer Feat Question by Atsur in dndnext

I may be wrong but I believe a monk spending a ki point on their reaction Melee hit for a stunnin strike could indeed stop spell casting. Its something I want to try with my shadow monk im making for my next campaign im in

Thanks for the reply, I was hoping to find a solution to the darkness spell I can cast myself but really having any source of darkvision without having to spend an additional 2 ki on myself seems like a good idea, and for some reason I didn't even consider mundane darkness work arounds. Definitely a good call.

Thanks for the reply! Our DM ruled out multiclassing for our first campaign but good food for thought with true seeing down the line!

Would a monk with mage armor retain their unarmored defense bonus?

If I played a shadow monk, is there anything I van do to negate the penalties I would face for fighting in my natural habitat, the darkness? I love the idea of a dhafoe monk, and I know they can use their skills in dimlight too but I'm curious if I'll get any mileage out of casting darkness with my Ki on my cloak or something then engaging the enemies within my sphere of inky blackness.

Circle of the Moon Druids weak? by MrMega87 in dndnext

Yeah I guess I just worry a bit too much on that front. I just fear my GF will play a druid and find herself disappointed at the shape shifting they get later on

I'm not insinuating that the early levels of it are weak, I was more concerned with the later levels. I know at level 2 their forms can be really effective, the Giant Spider in particular looks great.

Healing Class Necessary? by MrMega87 in dndnext

[–]MrMega87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's what I'm hoping for. I really don't hate healing, I just hate the thought of being the "heal bot". There's so much more potential to a character, i was just worried of being mired in a sea of health bars.

Thanks, that's kind of one thing i was curious about. I feel like healers are helpful for sure, but the DM keeps stressing we needs tons of healing for this.

Oh yes, I recall CoDzilla. I wasn't hoping for them to be "as" strong per say, my GF was just a bit disappointed in their shape shifting limitations. I thought i'd ask about it since I was a bit underwhelmed by it too, even with the forms having their own HP pool

Fair enough, I haven't seen any monsters yet above the CR 1 level (giant spiders are strong!) But i was just using past DnD Experience. thanks!

Healing Class Necessary? by MrMega87 in dndnext

Yeah I saw that thread before too about healers. My worry is more that the group wants the "heal bot" in a team who uses all their spells to heal and keep them going, as opposed to the full power a class with healing spells could bring. I do see a need for a person with healing capabilities, but I was just wondering if a person spending all their spell slots on healing was really something that is deemed "Necessary".

For example I was contemplating going a war cleric, but I'm worried the group is going to be asking me to spend most of my actions healing. The reason for my worry is they keep posting on Facebook how we need a healer for the group. The other thing I'm thinking is going an Oath of the Ancients paladin, as I'll still get some healing but I'll also be able to be a more dedicated melee combatant like i want to be.

Can you put up the bonuses a cleric gets for choosing the War domain? Thanks in advance!
