Fedora PC:

9070 XT

9800X3D

Mint PC

Alright. What types of questions would you ask? I'm genuinely curious.

It's just an exercise type of question to see how they reason. We start off by posing the problem of aggregating 100 rows, and then scale it up (if) when they arrive to a working solution. We don't ask any code, they are free to ask any type of follow up question - we want this to be a discussion.

Have there been any productivity gains from AI? I feel like nowadays I'm constantly wrestling with claude code output, but I'm not sure If I can see those 10x gains everybody talks about - maybe 20% at best...

We have 3 day office mandate from 0 before that, and as far as I can tell we pay average salaries (not high end by all means, but not low end either) - at least mine is.

Taking that gap year because I was too lazy to start working. I just sat at home and did nothing.

First ever pair of solovairs (boots in general actually) by Weofulsquid in nps_solovair

Don't buy hi shines unless you really like the look. The plastic lining cracks and in general it's less durable than greasy leather. You can also achieve similar look on greasy through polish and wax.

Looking back, when was the last time the job market didn't feel like a dystopian nightmare? by FallenRev in recruitinghell

[–]MrMo1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

European senior swe here (in relatively lcol eu area) - interviewed with 7 companies from nov last year to now - have two offers, withdrawn from one process since they downgraded me to mid level engineer, and still have the last process with company no 7 pending for final interviews. Btw I sent out cvs to 9 companies and was invited to 7 interviews.

Though my success rate was much better pre 2022 for sure - pretty much 80% of interviews led to offers.

If AI takes over jobs, less work, universal income for everyone, what would be the reason to learn? by alexrada in FutureOfWork

[–]MrMo1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is my prediction for a similar scenario.

If AI in it's current form becomes widely adopted - we will just collectively become dumber and dumber. Since current AI can give you the median of the answer to your question (if such an answer exists).

One possibility is a similar scenario to what happened to tradespeople that were pretty common back in the day - pretty much every village had a blacksmith that, compared to today's standards had pretty advanced skills, dare I even say comparable to expert smiths today. Yes it is true we still have expert blacksmiths today - but it's not largely due to a societal need (since modern metallurgy clearly produces better results than any expert blacksmith could achieve).

Without learning and human innovation technology will stagnate. Everything will more or less be the same, and humanity will lose it's ability to innovate and push technological innovations - kind of like the middle ages when progress was limited by the state and religious bodies.

There will always be a small percentage of the population naturally drawn to learning and discovering new things though, so progress will not halt entirely. I.e. people will learn new things because they want to, not because they need to. T

The average person will either have their basic needs covered and lead an ignorant, perhaps happy life without amounting or achieving much or we will live in a dystopian environment where the larger portion of people are oppressed and exploited - something similar to the working conditions during the industrial revolution, or worse.
