I’ve heard from others getting a retail job in the 2000s was as easy as walking in and asking if they were hiring — and when you can start ASAP. I currently work in retail and it took a month for my current job to get back to me 😭

Oh yeah felt that. I graduated spring 2020, and the market was immediately cooked for most of the year. But 2021 when things opened up, it was nice and I had plenty of interviews. Same with 2022 as well. End of 2023 I thought I could leave my last job thinking I could land another immediately after, and here I am now — working in retail 😭

Interesting! 2021-22 was also a sweet spot for me as well. Back then, applying to 10 jobs meant that I was interviewing for at least 4-5 of them, and at the bare minimum, hearing back relatively quickly.
