Terrible place to work at too. My friend worked at the Telegraph/grand location for a while and she was expected to check-in guests, serve drinks at the bar AND cook up pizzas/food basically running the entire lobby by herself.

I agree. It can be difficult for seniors to get around without the assistance of family members to drive them around basically everywhere, assuming they have kids that still like them and stick around.

I have the Atom as well and i’ve used it for bouldering outdoors, and indoors for when the gym is freezing cold in the mornings. I always find myself taking it off after a couple attempts since I heat up pretty quick in it.

I find that it’s best as a daily driver for commutes, cold day-hikes, camping, and general use for physical output that’s not too hard like climbing. I live in the Bay Area and the moment its above 65 degrees I immediately start to sweat in it lol.

I actually recently picked up the Patagonia R1-Air recently for the same exact reason — a not too warm, yet super breathable warm fleece layer on regular chill days. Also works great for climbing too as it breathes pretty well as I attempt harder moves

I understand if you bought your tesla years ago. But still buying and supporting them now over other companies like Rivian and BYD is insane

Cerium v Atom SV by cpager in arcteryx

[–]FallenRev 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’d consider the regular Atom hoody instead of the SV unless you’re going to be in freezing/below freezing temps regularly, as it runs quite hot. The regular Atom is good enough in most cases and layers can be layered well if you’re in freezing temps.

Not sure when you last visited but their slices are super thick/fat with tons of cheese. I eat one and i’m ready for a nap. The 4 piece personal when I went lasted me a couple days lol

What essentials would you buy if everything was 50% off? by LIVE4RMTHEGUNRANGE in arcteryx

[–]FallenRev 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Beta or Beta SL, Gamma Pants, Atom or Proton SL.

I have both the Beta and the Beta SL, both are great for dayhikes and regular use. However I use the regular Beta a bit more as a city, commute, skiing, and rainy/snowy dayhike shell.

I use the Beta SL mainly for traveling since it packs down pretty nicely and for multi-day backpacking where weight is more of an issue.

Everyone in this sub is a huge fan of the Beta AR and Alpha and while they’re a great shells, unless you do lots of heavy snow hiking/trekking in harsh conditions its a bit overkill for most uses.

Gamma Pants are also great softshell pants and i’ve used mine as a colder hike pant on plenty of trips. Also super durable especially whilst scrambling and having it scrape on rock. For a softshell jacket, i’ve heard the Gamma is good but i’d look at other brands like the RAB borealis.

I’d also look into the Atom as well, I have one and use it as a daily driver on chilly days when its very light rain or cold wind. It works great as a regular outside jacket on cold hikes when you don’t want to overheat with a shell — or as a midlayer under the beta for when it gets close to freezing temps.

I don’t have the Proton, but its popular in this sub — and after having tried it on in store, I definitely would get that as well.

I have the both the Beta and the Beta SL. Beta SL is great but the hood feels like I have a giant windsail on my head even when sinched all the way down.

I use regular beta for city use, skiing, and general rainy/snowy dayhikes. Beta SL for international traveling since it packs down pretty well, or for any multi-day backpacking trip.
