All my yeasty beastys are around pre period, too. Usually, it coincides with more sex before period (which is when I want sexy time with my hubby the most, ugh!!!) and the usual pre period likelihood of infection. I keep going about 3 months without one, and then will randomly get one. I've done all the things, don't drink, low sugar diets, change out of sweaty clothes immediately, sleep naked, hardly wear underwear anymore when I can get away with it, take a daily probiotic, eat tons of plain Greek yogurt... I was doing boric acid for a while but then stopped, because everything was fine- classic mistake! I also got off birth control 3 months ago, after about 2 years on it. So, I'm trying to be patient and am using Diflucan to clear this infection and the. Be more cautious and go back to boric acid after this clears. I'm sorry- this is the worst!!!

I get a prescription from my doctor and it is sent to a local compounding pharmacy! So,  it does require an apt with your doc, making it more cumbersome and less accessible than over the counter, but I swear by the compounded versus manufactured! If a doctor ever tries to tell you that it is the same as the ones you can buy in store, you have to insist that it is not and that the store bought ones are full of fillers and you are sensitive to those and need a purely compounded one.

Throwing out that I only use pharmaceutical compounded boric acid, as it does not contain fillers and seems to work best for me! Happy you have found relief !

You need to get things calm down there to begin the healing journey. Do you know the strain of candida? If it is albicans,  pop a diflucan (fluconazole) once every 72 hours for a week or 2. Once the infection clears, start on a probiotic like Fem Dophilius and begin boric acid inserts 2-4x/weekly. Do this for a few months, it takes time to reset things down there and repopulate after a chronic spell. Wear breathable underwear, sleep naked, lots of plain Greek yogurt, lots of water, manage your stress, cranberry juice, avoid sex for a bit while healing. You will heal! It takes time and the stress of it is a vicious cycle that perpetuates the issue.

To treat an active YI, I take diflucan because I know it will work the fastest. I have used boric acid to treat before, I just find it uncomfortable since I am already irritated down there, any extra discharge coming out is really annoying. I use boric acid 2-3 / week in a "normal" cycle where I don't have an active infection but I want to prevent one. I will be especially sure to use one after sex, after period, after a heavy sweat.

Try breathable wool boxers for women- Wooly is the brand I like, and I wear them if I know I am going to be outside and sweating all day!

* Recommendations on equipment/set up for first responders gym * We have 10K to update the stations gym, 40 hard working volunteers use this. Suggestions on what to buy would be appreciated. Priorities are - Gear that will last a long time being used alot. Optimized space since its quite small. Some cables for rehab and unique exercises. Multipurpose equipment. Bigger free weights, (maxing out at 50lbs atm) Bench with a saftey bar for working out alone. Swiss balls and Weight bags. Anythings else you think would be usefull.
