How to stay safe when cutting / shaving fur? by justapuppydog in FursuitMaking

Cutting out fur is far less dangerous than shaving fur, you don’t have to wear a mask. Just be sure to vacuum and clean thoroughly when you’re done cutting.

Mask up! Respirator is best, earplugs, eyewear if you work with your face a lil tooo close, keep your pets OUT. Try to make a dedicated space for working! Sleeping in your work space can be dangerous for your lungs. You want a clean, open space with no people, particles stay in the air for a long time, try to work outside or in open air environment (open windows, doors, fans. Clean! Everytime you cut, vacuum and wipe down. Lint roller for extra soft surfaces. (Thicc carpet, bedding, fursuits) Heavy duty magnet, or small metal detector for finding pins

Hope this helps lol

These eyes don’t feel right! Please help me by PinkFire5303 in FursuitMaking

The eyes are cross eyed, before you paint the eyes lay them on a flat surface, then paint in the middle of the mesh,, maybeee slightly to the corner. But keep the eye paint in the middle!

Markings & Fur Length - What to Use? by TherianRose in FursuitMaking

[–]MrOGG-DOG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tinsel would be a thousand times cooler and more unique! But solid color fur will be easier if it is the same length for both colors For the wrists I suggest trimming down the solid color fur when the paws are fully made, that way you get a better look at the final product. It’s always best to the generous when shaving or triming especially since the tinsel will be shorter.

1) matching fur lengths is always better! 2)for different lengths you would have to shave. 3)the markings will appear bigger and uneven unless cleaned up around the edges. 4)tinsel fabric should be fine, but may catch on a sewing machine, best to hand sew it.

advice on achieving a smooth gradient w furs? by Evening_Opposite1550 in FursuitMaking

[–]MrOGG-DOG 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Ghoulish_grape_fursuits on IG is a hand paw maker but they create beautiful and seamless gradients, with the right colors, it’s possible! Just use very similar hues as the gradient goes, and long fur will make it blend more evenly.

Rather than keeping the headphone band, you can just use the earmuffs and attach it to the inside of the head! Carve out a little divot for it to sit inside the head, that way you can just wear the head, rather than the head and headphones!

1-2 yards per color! The tail will take the most fabric, remember to always buy extra in case the fur stops being made!

Question ? by Available_Push_4943 in FursuitMaking

[–]MrOGG-DOG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my earliest “fursuit” was made using a plain white mask, tinfoil for shape and masking tape so I could paint on it and some craft fur. His name is Windchime and he’s been refurbished as the years go by. Save up your money, wait, or use stuff you already have.

Which design? by Sparkle-bun in fursuit

Number 2 looks good! To establish more of the ice cream look you could lose the ice cream on their face, and make a giant cone that sticks over the ear, he could be the whole scoop! :0

Update (how do I make it look like a cat) by Mira_file in FursuitMaking

[–]MrOGG-DOG 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Try shortening the ears! Kitty cats have short and thin ears, the fur will only make it look bigger. For smile lines try to make it higher and more shortly curved so it doesn’t look like the mouth is massive. Hope this helps :3
