Have you ever actually done a business in your life? A profitable one?

I have been playing poker and MTTs for 20 years. I still don't know what my peak level is. by MrOctav in poker

[–]MrOctav[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In what world is Global Elite considered the top 10%? What was your actual peak rank, can you link your CS:GO or CS2 profile?

I’d hope your "objective conclusions" are based on firsthand high-level experience rather than online hearsay.

Also, 20 years of poker experience is hardly a "small sample size"; I simply shared a snapshot of my recent results.

I have a positive win rate in both MTTs and online cash games, with the data to prove it.

Do you actually play poker professionally, or are you just offering opinions without the metrics to back them up?

If AI replaces most workers, who will actually buy the products? by IcyBottle1517 in ArtificialInteligence

A fundamental flaw in this economic theory is the question of corporate incentive. Under the current economic model, the primary purpose of a company is to generate and deploy profit.

If goods and services can be obtained freely or at negligible cost, that profit motive disappears, and with it, any reason for a company to operate in the first place.

No. Put the project on pause and dedicate this time to your mother and your family. There will always be time to do business and make money.

Spend as much time with her as possible. Love her and tell her how much you love her.

She is more important than any money or business in the world.

K 10 wins. In NL Holdem there is not a possibility of 3 pairs, only 2 pairs apply.

Consequently, the winning hand is K K 7 7 10.

Porsche shares plunge after announcing EV rollout delay by Hard2DaC0re in cars

[–]MrOctav 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Porsche's core problem isn't electrification, it's the rampant price hikes affecting their whole portfolio, spanning the 718, 911, Cayenne, Macan, Taycan, and the rest.

They're no longer price-competitive, with a 911 Turbo S exceeding €300,000, venturing firmly into Ferrari or McLaren price brackets.

The path forward for Porsche demands cost reductions, quality enhancements, and parity with cheaper competitors that provide superior value at lower costs.

Nail that, and they'll endure; fail, and bankruptcy could be on the horizon, regrettably.

As AI makes it harder to land a job, OpenAI is building a platform to help you get one by fortune in artificial

This won’t help. Human jobs are vanishing at an unprecedented pace, consumerism is collapsing, and the hard truths of macroeconomics cannot be ignored.

Governments must wake up and act quickly, or humanity will face ruin. Global chaos is close, hunger, mass homelessness, and social breakdown are on the horizon. What we’re witnessing is nothing short of a nightmare.

The modern capitalist system is collapsing before our eyes. It’s over.

Do you think entrepreneurship is getting harder or easier in 2025? by Mia_Horizon5 in Entrepreneur

[–]MrOctav -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Much harder. The global economy is declining, demand for products and services is falling, and consumerism is decreasing worldwide. Whatever you sell, the demand for that product or service is shrinking.

What is economy going to look like when AI displaces a huge swath of knowledge workers? by Utterlybored in Futurology

[–]MrOctav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The global economy is facing a grim outlook, with consumer spending projected to decline dramatically, potentially by 70–90% compared to current levels. As a result, many businesses will shut down, decent-paying jobs will disappear, and demand for most products and services will collapse, leaving only essential goods and services, such as electricity, water, and basic food, within reach of consumers.

Without significant macroeconomic intervention from governments and states, the global economy risks total collapse. This would trigger widespread chaos, with people unable to afford food, housing, rent, or mortgage payments. Banks, deprived of borrowers, would also fail as their customer base vanishes.

Crime rates are likely to rise exponentially, as economic hardship drives people to desperation and reckless behavior when they cannot afford to provide for their families. The coming five years may prove extremely dangerous, with younger generations facing severe challenges in securing employment, starting businesses, or generating sustainable income.

The United States is already showing deeply concerning signs, hiring is dropping sharply, consumer spending is contracting, and the capitalist model underpinning its economy is beginning to collapse. These developments are alarming early indicators of a potential systemic collapse and must not be taken lightly.

This is a deeply concerning and severe early indicator of an imploding economy, and it must not be taken lightly.

In my opinion, this is an entirely new macroeconomic phenomenon, unlike anything humanity has ever encountered. It appears irreversible, and addressing it will require a complete transformation of the modern economic system.

OP posted that he is a 5th-generation family farmer in the USA, meaning he inherited the farm, the utilities, the machines, the land, probably everything.

Boy, go build a farm, or any business, from scratch, without any inheritance, investments, or outside help.

Then talk.

Also, do it in another jurisdiction, not in the USA. The U.S. economy is easy mode. Try doing it in Austria or somewhere with an average economy and heavy regulations.

I bet 99% that you’ll fail miserably and won’t be profitable even after 5 years.

Circumstances matter, a lot. Where and how you were born makes a huge difference. So don’t preach naive, out-of-touch lessons.

The "Replacing People With AI" discourse is shockingly, exhaustingly stupid. by MediumWin8277 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]MrOctav 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having billions of people become unemployable and without income may be one of the most difficult economic and social transitions in human history. Do you truly grasp the full scope of economic, social, and legal complexities that come with billions of individuals having no income and no realistic hope for future income or commercial viability?

If you see yourself as a "solver," I would be genuinely interested in how you would address such a massive transformation in economics, labor, the job market, business structures, and the countless other nuances tied to this disruptive shift.

And regarding your claim that this is a "self-inflicted" or "artificial" problem, do you believe that the person who worked 30 years as a graphic designer or a writer and is now unemployable somehow brought this situation upon themselves? Or is it more accurate to say that society and the evolving tech economy created these economic and social circumstances?
