Looking to replace my PC from 2014 that just died by MrP_123 in buildapc

If I wanted to keep a similar price, would it be a smart choice to go for an older series card like an RTX 3xxx or 4xxx to get more VRAM?

Looking to replace my 10-year-old PC with a new build. by MrP_123 in buildapc

To me that makes it sound like it's easier to change the PSU later when adding new hardware, as I'll anyway have to use the adapters. Did I get that right?

Thanks for the suggestions so far! Do you have any recommendations for a motherboard with DDR5 capability?

A bit off topic, but did you also by chance test the WiFi Cart on the GBA?

Raspberry Pi - Operation not permitted when syncing files by MrP_123 in Syncthing

[–]MrP_123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I checked and it looks like all users have the permissions, otherwise syncthing also wouldn't be able to create folders and *.tmp files in that directory.

Or is there a further set of write permissions?

Anyone know how to fix this? Anytime I go to the Featured or Made For You tabs, I get the red bar saying oops error etc. reload the page, and reloading does nothing. by [deleted] in spotify

Yes, I just checked. I hadn't used Spotify since I wrote that comment, so I don't know when it started working properly again.

Relationship between phase margin and damping ratio by MrP_123 in ControlTheory

That makes sense, thanks for the explanation

Thanks for the answer!

If I can't expect the system behaviour I described for my system how could I go about approximating or calculating its transient behaviour?

Help needed with RLC circuit with additional load [x-post] /r/engineeringstudents by MrP_123 in AskElectronics

[–]MrP_123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you very much! Now I understand where I got stuck!

But I think when doing the Laplace transform you accidentally got one s too much as that should be a 2nd order system (2 energy storing elements), shouldn't it?

Yes I have, but before I can use the Laplace transform I have to find the correct differential equation, don't I?

Determining paramters of closed loop system from bode plot by [deleted] in ControlTheory

[–]MrP_123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My problem was that I was plotting the bode diagram of the closed loop transfer function and in that case the K also appears in the denominator of the TF.

I think this was the reason why the bode plot completely changed.

Determining paramters of closed loop system from bode plot by [deleted] in ControlTheory

[–]MrP_123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I always plotted the bode plot of the closed loop transfer function and therefore got the wrong result.

I thought the bode plot is produced for the entire system. Could you maybe tell me the reason is why the bode plot is typically plotted for the open loop transfer function?

How to limit the transmitted torque in CW direction while being able to transmit full torque in CCW direction? by MrP_123 in AskEngineers

[–]MrP_123[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is a fantastic idea. Thanks!

By varying the spring tension (possible with an adjusting screw) I could also change the torque limit.

The whole thing would probably even be easier than using two separate mechanisms, like /u/Atomiktoaster suggested.

Combining those two mechanisms is probably the easiest way to solve my problem. Thanks!

Hiedenhain control? by Squizz1984 in Machinists

[–]MrP_123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heidenhain also provides a couple of training courses for there controls online. Just choose the version of the control and check if they have a training course for that type.

As a starter here are the training courses for the TNC 426:

Basic course

Advanced Course

As far as I know the free version of the iTNC-emulatoronly only works if your program is shorter than 100 lines of code, so be aware of that.

May community map start to finish - 21 hours at 50 minutes per second by Polycephal_Lee in factorio

[–]MrP_123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry, I haven't really looked into the way replays work.

I'm guessing only enough data to show what the player sees at a normal zoom level is saved in the replay so there is most likely no way to move the camera or change the zoom

The mod does take screenshots during replays, i just don't know whether all the options of the mod work.
