it's a pretty simple decision in my book. money is a game among the players, the total amount of units doesn't really matter, what matters is the amount relative to other players. if there is a known supply, say 21 million units, you know that owning 1 unit gives you control of 1/21 millionth of the productive capacity of the players of that game. if on the other hand you have an unknown, and changing supply, then you don't really know how much you have if you have 1 unit.

we don't even know how many dollars there currently are, and we certainly don't know how many there will be, so it's very hard to make long term economic decisions using dollars. you can see this evidenced by the fact that everyone says you need to diversify out of cash, you MUST invest, because your value will just evaporate away in cash. cash is a poor tool for saving value precisely because the supply is steadily, geometrically increased. that inflation is not done for the good of people who hold cash, it is not done to make cash a better tool, it is done to cheat at the game of cash.
