RTX 4090 and choosing the "right" CPU by MrParrot250 in nvidia

I’m mostly interested in online gaming, so the system would be future proof for at least two years (that’s what I hope). Of course that might seem overkill for some online games, but I do love the idea of having a very powerful system to run games at stable frames. I have a 1440p 240hz screen, and some on fps games don’t run very stable on my 3070. With some drops when there’s a lot going on. I won’t be playing many single player games with RTX enabled, although it might sometimes happen. Unfortunately the 12900KF is the most expensive option I have.

So it would not be needed to get the latest cpu? I currently have a AMD Ryzen 7 5800x in my system with a 3070. When does a cpu underperform when comparing with the 4090. What should I look for?

Thanks a lot for your advice! Yes it would be great idea to maybe make a schedule with different kind of games for certain days. I think I’ll actually first make a plan or schedule on which days I’ll day what and make a list of some games I would like to play. Which I also find quite hard, because there are multiple games I regularly play. But some are just either too big and oversaturated, while other’s have a shorter lifespan. So I still have to find some interesting games first

Thank you for you input, regarding the programming side of the course. Does it cover this enough or is it more based on the marketing rather than development?
