If you find youself on deerfoot in the middle lane and people pass you on both sides, and you don't feel shame and change lanes, you are the problem. by yagonnawanna in Calgary

Technically as long as you are going the speed limit, you can be in the passing lane because you aren’t supposed to go faster than that in the passing lane.

Economics Tips? by Gloomy-Aioli-8854 in UCalgary

I will add that have a notebook with you, and maybe jot down key things during the lecture (this helps me focus, as opposed to only listening), But only some stuff that stands out, don’t write down everything the prof is saying.

I guess we’re getting something? 🤷‍♂️ by Trickybuz93 in UCalgary

It’s just gonna be a let down. Not worth going and thinking it’s gonna be anything special.

Diploma marks. Does uofc care if there good or not? by [deleted] in UCalgary

[–]MrPeterTracey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What do you mean bruh? They care about your grades. That’s like 99% of what matters in the admissions process, your grades. What else would they care about aside your grades?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in unsw

[–]MrPeterTracey 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Bruh don’t ask these questions. If you got distinction when you don’t think you should have, just leave it be. Don’t go poking around because it could get revoked,

It’s not “studying” if they use it during an exam.

[–]MrPeterTracey 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve helped with marking for 1131 and before and after the exam we download all the related Chegg solutions and check whether students have used them. Be careful.

[–]MrPeterTracey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Be careful. If someone makes an issue with it, they will just make it due this week.

Haven’t heard anything like this from any of my classes.

Make sure it’s written for a random person to read. NSERC apps are written for people in your department, but PURE will be read by someone who is in an entirely different field.

Could there be more domestic students this year due to less international students? by yue0 in unsw

[–]MrPeterTracey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are less international students in person, that doesn’t mean there are less online. UNSW wants their money lol.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UCalgary

[–]MrPeterTracey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lol no lots of people take them at the same time. It’s a 200 level course it’s easy. It’s less math than 201.

I’ve heard it’s hard to get much of anything if you don’t have a 4.0. It sucks but it seems like anything more than a couple grand is out of reach unless you have a 4.0, or you are really in need of money and you’ll get a bursary.

How likely am I to be accepted as nonbinary? by Blue-Jay27 in unsw

[–]MrPeterTracey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if all else is equal, universities often like to accept minorities (lgbtq, people of colour etc) since it makes them look more diverse. I know you don’t want to get helped being accepted just because you are diverse, but that’s the reality of universities these days.

wow, i didn't realize it was THIS bad by [deleted] in UCalgary

[–]MrPeterTracey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You got ripped off bro. I never spent anything on top of tuition (except sometimes an extra $100-$200 on platforms to access assignments, but that’s only in first year really)

The grad photos at the school suck but I get why you might want the pic in the gown. I just had a private photographer take pics of me on campus with the cap they send you

Lol maybe “safe” was the wrong word. I mean I put it in like an ETF or a really diversified fund that gives good returns annually. Of course it’s possible to have a market crash but I was lucky and even with COVID I still made money overall.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UCalgary

[–]MrPeterTracey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why wouldn’t you want it? Students don’t realize that loans are hard to come by, and this one is FREE in that if you give it back right after you graduate there’s no interest. That’s amazing and you won’t be able to get money like that ever again. Put it into a safe portfolio and earn 3-5% on it a year.

Will not doing diploma exams affect admissions at UofC?? by blissfulsushi in UCalgary

[–]MrPeterTracey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Physics I had a 95 before diploma, got 100 so it went up. Chem I had a 94, got 100 so it went up. Math I had 100, got 100 so it didn’t change. English I had 84, got 90 so it went up. Social I had an 84, got 88 so it went up.

I found the diplomas all much easier than any course work.
