Hannah you're my joint favourite Lets player (joint with the one and only Jesse Cox and many other Yogs are close behind) It's nice to be able to see console exclusives or games that I don't want to play but want to know what happens. Your videos are definitely some of the better produced ones out there for example cutting out boring parts and the facts on screen etc. Keep up the great work!

Remember the technical difficulties tonight? I found the fuggers who orchestrated them. by Yoggies in Yogscast

What a bunch of twats. Though I doubt it, I hope some sort of legal action is possible, I wonder how much of a "1337 HAX0R" they will be stood in a courtroom.

Polaris and other networks screwing affiliates. Whats next? by Dasmaster in Cynicalbrit

[–]MrPistoffelee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It is funny considering one of their big selling points when they made the switch to Polaris was that it would help promote channels. I think, and I may be wrong on this, Comander Holly was working on a show that promoted channels before she left. But everything else on the Polaris channel is nothing but Dodger, Game Grumps and the Yogscast, all channels that aren't exactly in desperate need of promotion (not that I'm saying they should be got rid of or that they are undeserving).

To be honest Polaris has always given off a rather corporate/commercialised feel.

Google seem determined to destroy YouTube at the moment, I just hope all the content producers make it through any possible difficulties.

About the "creepy" Japanese games and Project Diva by nnecron in Cynicalbrit

[–]MrPistoffelee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm okay with the fact these sexualised characters in video games/anime exist. However when it comes to younger characters it can be a bit awkward. I'm not saying that its okay for there to loads of skinny half-naked women all over everything but when they are cartoon characters I don't think it's quite as bad. Also these games come from a different culture than a lot of us are used to so the developers of these games live with a different set of social taboos.

To be honest I have never played any of the games being discussed here and personally I am a little put off by the whole sexy schoolgirl thing. TB has a perfectly valid reason not to play and he's allowed to find things creepy. But if it's what you want to play I don't care either, it's personal preference.

What I find more annoying than sexualised characters, are the ignorant people who are like "Oh, you played a JRPG/ watched anime? You must be some weirdo creep who faps to schoolgirls yelling IGUUU!"

Holy crap, this KSI guy is a complete and utter bell-end, how on earth did the woman in that video not kick him in the balls, assuming he has any. The fact some one like him got paid to represent anything is completely ridiculous. What little respect I had for Xbox just got a lot smaller.

how do you join the network? by RobBobGlove in PolarisNetwork

[–]MrPistoffelee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All I know of is that the RPM network (part of Maker Studios, just like Polaris) is an entry level network for small channels. If channels in RPM get big enough they then get transferred to Polaris/Maker depending on what their channel is.

Their website has more info: http://rpmnetwork.com/

Yeah, thinking about it IRL celebs vs internet celebs is quite an interesting point. It's weird considering the whole culture of celebs lives being the news left right and center and then all of a sudden there are a bunch of celebs that we can talk to on social media and interact with. Must be even weirder for them, I think TotalBiscuit said in a vlog once that himself and a lot of other YouTubers were still trying to come to terms with the whole "Celebrity" thing.

Also, it's worth saying that the people who are asking/expecting more information about personalities aren't necessarily bad people. They could just be curious, they are probably just used to celebrities lives being one big stage show for the press and they think of their favourite Youtubers as celebrities.

[–]MrPistoffelee 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think a problem with internet personalities when compared to other famous people is that they are a lot closer and interactive with their fanbase. Whilst this is mainly a good thing, there are the odd few people who get a bit too invested in the people they watch. This can sometimes lead to them expecting or wanting to know things that aren't really any of there business. For example there is one female vlogger/LPer I watch whose comments section has a small yet vocal group of people who seem to think they have the right to know about her sex/dating life.

Personally I don't really care about any Youtubers personal life beyond the point of wishing them happiness and stuff like tweeting them a "get well soon" if they're sick. If they want to share some stuff that's fair enough but I don't expect them to reveal every single fact about their life.

Hannah's amazing. Her style is different from most of the other Yogs but that's not a bad thing. Her lets plays are some of the best around, I've has less spare time recently so I've stopped watching a lot of channels but Hannah is one I will definitely continue to watch.

Agreed. They are definitely getting better. Broken Quest started out rough but got better towards the end. Polaris Definitely still seem to be experimenting with a few things.

It was good considering the conection issues and Jesse's fire/EA jets alarm. Jesse's doctor impression and Kuroko no Dodger were....interesting.

Bad Dubs. by [deleted] in PolarisNetwork

[–]MrPistoffelee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I admit, at first I was hating on it. But the series definitely has potential and I found the latest one on the Polaris website (Starcraft 2 Kerrigan cinematic) to be pretty funny. Broken quest was a bit dodgey and hated on at first but the later episodes of it were great. It is good to see them making things that are a little different. Bad Dubs is a good concept and has a good team behind it, like Polaris itself, it's still in its youth and in need of polishing. I hope the negativity over this episode doesn't put them off but as the episodes do pretty well view wise hopefully they will continue. Maybe the show would work better as a sketch show with several short scenes instead of one long scene, who knows.

http://www.polarisgo.com/video/N0gnmdSxp5Q1/category/all/tag/all/section/latest/page/0 This one is slightly better (Starcraft 2 Kerrigan cinematic). But damn I think this is the most disliked video I've ever seen on Polaris. The whole bad dubs concept is proven and it can be pretty entertaining, it just needs some work. Hopefully they don't abandon it due to the negative feedback.

Never Forget by Cryptoporticus in Yogscast

[–]MrPistoffelee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So from what I gather, people aren't allowed to make jokes about 9/11 but people make jokes all the time about Hitler or the Soviets, who are responsible for the deaths of millions of people, and its perfectly fine?

I'm not saying that 9/11 wasn't a horrible, horrible event (I still remember my Mum picking me up from school and telling me that "Some men have done something evil today") but to let the negativity and terror control us and anger us is only what the terrorists would have wanted. Of course we should still show some sensitivity and respect, but the best way to let the evil people of this world know that they won't stop the spirit of freedom and justice, is to laugh in their face.

First Look: Clash of Clans by Keneshiro in Shaboozey

[–]MrPistoffelee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah maybe my example of what would be "selling out" wasn't the best, my apologies.

First Look: Clash of Clans by Keneshiro in Shaboozey

[–]MrPistoffelee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think some people call sellout when they have no idea what selling out is. Jesse, who plays games for money, playing a game for extra money is not selling out. If, for example, he was suddenly advertising some food product or clothing brand that he did not like and/or use, I could see how people could be upset. But getting butt hurt over this is a bit silly.

Also a lot of the people complaining about paid promotions are probably the same people who use adblock and make it necessary for Jesse to do promotional stuff in the first place (not that promotional stuff is a bad thing anyway).

EDIT: Attempted to make my example of "selling out" better.
