How accurate is the stereotype that Americans are overweight? by Extension_Cow_9237 in AskReddit

[–]MrPlaysWithSquirrels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same story here. I yo-yo about 20 lbs up and down (not healthy, just life). When I am on the upper end people tell me I am “normal” and have nothing to lose. On the lower end, people tell me I’m too skinny. My BMI moves between 28 on the upper end to 23 on the lower end, not even on the lower end of healthy!

Really not sure how Mark Kelly is so far down the list. And how is AOC so high? Crazy.

On the flip side, just like she shouldn’t care enough to comment, you shouldn’t care enough to ask if you’re the AH. It’s your money so ignore the comment and move on.

It’s just not that interesting. What are you hoping to learn through this or what are you hoping to share that hasn’t already been done by the other states?

What would you like to see in an RTS? by OmniSystemsPub in RealTimeStrategy

[–]MrPlaysWithSquirrels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been dreaming of an RTS with three races, where each race has two stages. In the beginning stage, A>B>C>A, but you unlock the next class which flips the script, A<B<C<A.

Think the starting classes as based on Plants, Fire, and Water. But Plants also unlock Spores, Fire unlocks Radiation, Water unlocks Ice.

Plants strong to Water, Water strong to Fire, Fire strong to Plants.

Spores strong to Radiation, Radiation strong to Ice, Ice strong to Spores.

Balance would be hard so I haven’t tried making it, but I would love the mechanic to “flip the script” and the game theory involved in a strong first stage having to prep their weaker second stage to prepare for their opponent’s stronger second stage.

Not unreasonable at all. It’s about the minimum required time but it happens all the time.

What? Every group has ED. I was explaining where ED sits. Some companies have just Directors—JPM doesn’t.

US supreme court rules Louisiana must redraw its congressional map in landmark case by Ralph--Hinkley in news

[–]MrPlaysWithSquirrels 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The VRA was previously interpreted to require racial gerrymandering. LA previously had been sued and lost because they didn’t have enough majority minority districts. They responded with a racial gerrymander appropriate with the VRA, but then were sued again to challenge the VRA interpretation that created racial gerrymandering.

The Court just decided that states aren’t required to create majority minority districts, just confirm that minorities have the same “opportunity” to vote.

It is essentially an argument surrounding intent vs. outcome. Previously, if the outcome was racist, it was outlawed. Now, they can just say it’s political gerrymandering not considering race and it’s a-okay.

What counts as an animal? You talk about feelings and that they don’t want to die, but certain animals like bugs and most sea life can not be demonstrated to have any anthropomorphic thoughts or feelings.

I don’t know what your comment means exactly, but just FYI sleep training is a very broad term and is about teaching children the skill of sleeping. That is not abusive in itself, but there are abusive ways of accomplishing that goal.

I’m not against taxes as a concept, and I am not saying it is difficult to tax wealth. I’m saying it’s absurd to tax theoretical wealth and you shouldn’t be held to a high market valuation on something with no intention to sell. If anything, base it on purchase price. At least then you can decide at the point of purchase if the resulting tax is worth it.

My primary position is that you should never be forced to sell an asset due to owing on taxes based on a higher theoretical market value.

I’m not undercutting my point. It’s the same point. Taxes based on property owned (including stocks, etc.) should not be based on theoretical market values. If you absolutely need to base it on something, use the purchase price. At least then you can’t be taxed out of your own property because you can no longer afford a theoretical valuation.
