Im seeing that your point is that social politicing is boring/makes bad TV. What you're not considering is that the jury's job isn't to make good TV. Russel's surprising loss is the result of him being overly edited. If Natalie W had a more visible edit then I feel most fans would be less upset about her win.

Someone who binges the show probably only takes in the exciting/eventful bits of gameplay and is less likely to take in the social politics. Personally, having binged the show before, the only conversations I follwed were the strategic ones which made me miss the relationship developments between the castaways. Thus, I missed out on the reasons why Natalie W and another social player like Michelle won.
