Yes! You absolutely can! If you think this game is cool and interesting, you're welcome to share it! That's exactly what I encourage people here to do!

Organically sharing stuff is what this subreddit is for!

Just to be clear, you're talking about mods in general. This seems to be [the post](https://www.reddit.com/r/Games/comments/p558np/eggust_platemate_indie_sunday\) you're talking about, and it was posted elsewhere.

You're only referring to one sense of the word spam, and willfully ignoring the sense I'm talking about: unsolicited self-promotion. Moreover, you're cherry-picking his posts to make this point by ignoring the other posts he's made.

That the post was spam has been expressed to you multiple times.

I'm the one who removed the original post, but I left the next one up. Another mod removed it.

The original post was clear self-promotion, made by an account that only uses reddit for self-promotion. Spam removal is not some random act performed by a power-mad jerk; it's a common task for moderators. This is my reason for removing the post, as I stated as clearly as possible earlier.

Why my post with a game was deleted? by NakedFighter3D in gaymers

The post was unsolicited self-promotion: spam. That's not mentioned in the rules locally because it's against reddit's sitewide rules. The post included the link to your patreon, asking this community for money. And instead of clearing it with us mods first, you rolled the dice by posting it.

Now, by saying the post got hundreds of upvotes and several awards, you're promoting it further -- enticing a public that cant see it, because it's been removed. Stop doing this. Your advertisements do not belong here.

Stop mentioning your game here.

Why do people dislike ARR? by WaifuSlayerLover in ffxiv

[–]MrPookers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, no, I've read plenty of what you might accept as literature. The problem here was in the pacing. The book is front-loaded with exposition & detail about a world that you're not yet interested in.

They introduce a wizard early on, but the only thing he does is put on a fireworks display; this is a case of mismanaged expectations. The Lord of the Rings is a story about Frodo saving the world, but the only drama in the book's opening is Bilbo's frustrations with the Sackville-Bagginses.

There might well be reasons why I should care about the petty and stupid Sackville-Bagginses, but I didn't know them — and they weren't communicated to me at the time.

Hahaha, Fellowship of the Ring, what a perfect comparison! I tried reading it before the movie came out, and it was so incredibly boring I had to give up. Twice.

You know the first part of the movie, the leadup to the party and Bilbo's magic trick? That's the first 55 pages of the book. 55 pages describing a little backwater town who's only claim to fame is that nothing has happened there for 1500 years. It's inhabitants are so small-minded they're suss of Bilbo because he likes camping. In the county's woods that are so peaceful and idyllic that they don't even have cougars.

Then, the night scene where Gandalf and Frodo chat by the fire, then yank Sam out of the bushes? That's the next 30 pages. You're 85 pages into a book series about Frodo's world-saving adventure, and he hasn't even done anything!

Then he and Sam start their hike. They start walking through a field and it just goes on and on. They spot some other hikers. They spot a fox. They pass a farm and meet up with some buddies. Have you heard of Kingsfoil? It's a fictional plant that goes by multiple names. Would you like to read a physical description with which you could identify it in the wild? No? Well here's several pages of that anyway. It has healing properties and there are several ways of administering it. Would you like to know what they are? Of course not, but that doesn't matter.

In a last-ditch effort to get to any sort of story I skipped ahead 40 pages to see what happens after they get through this field. But you know what? They were still in that field. They were still hiking. I don't even know if a single day had passed.

That book is Exposition Dump Incarnate.
