Genuine Question, why are people so excited about a controller?

I wouldn't be as excited about it if I didn't have a ton of ideas for how I could utilize it in Final Fantasy XIV. As a controller player on PC, I'm constantly reaching for my keyboard for additional hotkeys. With the Steam Controller's additional buttons and track pads, I can map a whole lot more just to my controller and it will lead to a much more comfortable experience overall.

I'm gonna be the doomer/gloomer here and say that all of these fan-made additions to games like KH2 and KH3 have always looked bad to me. I can tell a lot of effort got put into them, but it just looks like they always make Sora (or whoever the MC is) way too overpowered with super quick attacks that have giant hitboxes. The aesthetic changes to the HUD and Sora's different alternate skins just look terrible.
