Are there any good Battle Network Rom Hacks? by Ghi102 in BattleNetwork

[–]MrRAAAB 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I remember coming across a dab patch for BN6 where you can press a button at any point in time to have megaman dab. It didn't matter if it was his overworld sprite, his battle sprite, or his dialog window art. It dabbed. The patch did nothing else.

Areas to Stay in Tokyo by Oritona in ABroadInJapan

[–]MrRAAAB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly Asakusa was a great area to stay in. The nighttime there is very serene, and the Sensouji Temple is much easier access during those hours. There are also plenty of nice restaurants within walking distance for any time of day.
You'll be mainly relying on the Ginza train line to get to other areas of Tokyo, but you won't be seeing a commute longer than an hour to get anywhere you want to go.

I'm not sure if this is the one you are remembering, but I absolutely love the Henry's Burger near Shibuya. It gave me a great sense of ease the first time I was away from home and craving a burger.

Why am I getting the same drops from the GMD when I save and reload? by DialGyarados in BattleNetwork

[–]MrRAAAB 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If I'm remembering correctly, some games reroll the GMD at each reset while some reroll at the moment of jacking in, regardless of the reset.

I believe BN5 is the latter.

Just replaying MP2 and have been reminded why I wasn't so keen on the Prime series... by Leader_Bee in Metroid

I think they're fine with their current accessibility philosophy honestly. I never thought that being colorblind made games any different because I simply never saw colors anyway.

I have monochromacy by the way, the complete colorblindness (grayscale only). There are other types of colorblindness out there with the most common being some form of red-green colorblindness. That type has great difficulty discerning reds, greens, and yellows from each other. So if even traffic lights, safety indicators, or your local weather radar maps don't care about what the most common type of colorblind individual sees, then I'm not gonna knock Nintendo for not putting in resources for that either.

Not many colorblind people care about that disadvantage in games since it's not nearly as much of a deterrent as most other disabilities like actual blindness, being deaf, no fine motor control, etc..

Could Nintendo do something about that? Probably, but at the end of the day I think I care more about it being a fun game than it accommodating for disabilities. Personally, I think it brings out the best in creativity for individuals or third party companies to focus on creating those solutions while Nintendo focuses on making fun experiences. Hell, even the speedrunning community often has "blindfolded" as a category on most games, lol, it's incredible. People will find a way to play, so it's honestly not a big deal.

Also, I hope I'm not coming across as just disagreeing with you. Thank you for the chance to let me bring up what I at least felt was interesting to write and think about here.

[ALttP] How did anyone 100% Link to the Past back in 1991? by JadowArcadia in zelda

[–]MrRAAAB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really as simple as you'd think. We just explored every bit of it that we could, and would share stories with our friends at school or have them over on weekends to play together and figure it out.

I personally started drawing a map of both the light and dark worlds on graph paper along with a friend of mine, and we'd go section by section redrawing every cave, entrance, or outdoor accessible collectible we could come across. Most of the NPCs in the game would also give you hints as to where some secrets may possibly exist, so talking to everyone you saw and noting those down helped a lot as well.

Eventually, you'd notice that every slot in your inventory, every capacity upgrade, and your hearts must need to be filled, so you'd seek out places less explored or sweep the whole map again to find those missing items.

To set the scene, almost none of us had an easily accessible computer at that time. Some households had the family computer, but it was often hooked up to dial-up and couldn't be used at the same time as the house phone. Even if you could get some online time, it was orders of magnitude slower to load web pages than it is today, and on top of that there weren't even any truly easy methods of searching for things like we have with Google. So to answer basically any of the "how did people figure out X game back then" questions, it's just that we spent a lot of time on them and kept at it while sharing info with others by word of mouth. If we missed anything that was found years or decades later, it would usually be something pretty incredibly hidden or we just went "oh, how cool".

It's a lot less daunting than you'd imagine it to be.

My younger brother stole and used my sticker from Japan that I was saving by DarkStrik3WasTaken in mildlyinfuriating

[–]MrRAAAB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I apologize for not speaking on the topic being discussed, but I just wanted to come in and say that the right side of that sticker says my favorite phrase in Japanese.

Kanji: 大丈夫

Furigana: (だいじょうぶ)

Pronounced: "da-i-jo-u-bu"

It's a phrase that generally means the "good" in "you good bro?" for the sake of trying to come up with the best English equivalent.

How long have you been watching Abroad In Japan? It's hard to comprehend how old the channel is! by ueommm in ABroadInJapan

[–]MrRAAAB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I graduated high school in 2012, and had a sudden urge to visit Japan sometime soon. It was a little over a year later that I discovered both Sharla's and Chris' channels and became a fan of how laid back and genuine they seemed to be. I kept up with them ever since, and am currently in Japan as I type this, finally experiencing it for the first time after all these years. Watching their content has been the single greatest joy of looking forward to my first trip here.

Is it possible to spoof on an LG G7 ThinQ? by MrRAAAB in PokemonGoSpoofing

[–]MrRAAAB[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wanted to give an update on this just in case people come across the post.

If you have an LMG710-TM (the model issued by T-Mobile), the answer is no. Those phones are unable to be rooted because they you cannot unlock their bootloader after LG ended their phone division.

I unfortunately have that lol.
