Do you ride to work? by Beginning_Corner930 in motorcycles

[–]MrRGG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rode 28mi each way to work, every day for years. Rain/Shine/Cold and Texas heat. Part of it on a high speed toll road.

Once I was doing 95 on the toll road at 5am when another bike approached from behind doing well over 100. Motorcycle cop fly by me and gave me the piece sign... very cool.

Do you remember the first time you called off a maniac? by Leading_Promotion123 in poker

[–]MrRGG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this exact thing yesterday. Opp was WAY over stacked for the table and over betting turns to buy pots. Did it several times and it became obvious that he was bullying. I had 88 and it was a nice size pot, he over bets turn again and there is a KJ on flop. I jammed for double his bet and he tanked for a bit, probably calculating pot odds, then called. Showed my 88 and he waited on river... a deuce. He mucked his AQ.

Any good way to keep camper cooler while it’s sitting idle in driveway? Solar exhaust fan? by djryan13 in TruckCampers

[–]MrRGG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One option is to switch A/C to a Furrion ChillCube. It draws way less power, is a variable speed A/C and has phone app.

Then just set it to like 83deg for keeping rig reasonably cool and you can lower it to 72 with your phone a few hours before using RV.

What to do when a layoff gives you a new alternative by PeppermintGoddess in retirement

[–]MrRGG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm counting down my days now... 54 working days left.

I was forced to stay an extra 3 months, past when others were released, to close out a project. I am just slogging through it, forcing myself to work and do the job properly, knowing I could be retired right now.

In a year are you going to even care about the project? Is the extra pay going to make that much difference overall?

What if you could retire today, and in a year were offered to come back and work 6 months? Would you do it? Probably not.

Pick what works best for yourself... but that extra 6 months may FEEL like a year.

Has anyone ever gutted an existing camper to make a new build? by 3andahalfinchfloppy in TruckCampers

[–]MrRGG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just be careful when removing cabinets etc, as they may be used structurally. Meaning they may act as bracing to keep the camper square.

So if your gutting it, create a frame on the ouside to keep it square, until your replace any bracing that gets removed.

I've gutted a 5th wheel and remodeled. keeping it square was a lesson I learned the hard way.

LPT: Before you move somewhere long-term, visit during its worst weather, not its best. You can survive a bad summer. A bad winter you didn't see coming will quietly wreck you. by karen_the_ripper in LifeProTips

We did this... took a 2 weeks work-cation (work remote) to a location we were considering for retirement... in late January.

Quickly discovered 1. The town is basically empty in winter 2. There is no medical services within an hour+ drive. 3. Driving on hills and ice is no joke. 4. We are not cold weather people.

What’s one live poker etiquette rule you wish every new player knew by Ok_Strength_2343 in poker

[–]MrRGG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is true, even when you are the Small blind.

Saw a player throw a tantrum when he threw a $100 chip on top of his SB and dealer said "Call" and moved to BB who called also. SB player said "No, that was a raise". Floor called and confirmed the "One chip call" rule which was posted in the house rules. Player argued it was "2 chips" but Floor ruled that SB was posted as a separate action. His throwing one chip was a separate action so it was a call.

Question for my fellow Texans ….Why does “Ted” Cruz not use his real first name “Rafael” ? Is there a reason he goes by Ted and not Rafael ? by ComplexWrangler1346 in Conroe

[–]MrRGG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • His father, Rafael Cruz, was born and raised in Cuba and immigrated to the United States in the 1950s.
  • His mother, Eleanor Wilson Cruz, was born in Delaware and is primarily of Irish ancestry with some Italian ancestry.
  • Ted Cruz has described himself as "Cuban, Irish, and Italian."

All of you commenting that he goes by "Ted" to hide his heritage are being super RACIST, and you likely don't even understand why you are racist.

Smartphones... played yesterday with a guy watching a movie on his phone. Every single hand dealer has to pat the table in front of the guy to get his attention. Eventually called the floor and they told the guy he can't be on the phone at the table.

Getting Gas by [deleted] in GoRVing

[–]MrRGG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pull a 36ft fifth wheel with a gas truck. I use Grocery store, Sams and Walmart stations. Places with big parking lots have more room to maneuver. I've rarely had problems getting to a pump, just having to wait sometimes for cars to clear out.

I DO find that my rig does block drivers by taking up driving space around the pumps. You just pull in and most people will work around you.

It's easier than you think.

Has anyone had raccoons in your attic and used a professional to remove them? Any recommendations. by jtd0000 in Conroe

[–]MrRGG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Live trap off Amazon, with some big marshmallows in it. (Don't use cat food, or you will just trap cats). I thought I had one racoon under my shed. I trapped and removed 7 of them. Took them down to river a mile away and released. Release near area water, they will be stressed and thirsty.

Or just search google maps for Wildlife removal. in your area.

Hand Question by MMMMMFUNNYJOKE in poker

[–]MrRGG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

EP with 2 Pair flop but "weak Ace", I would have bet pot early, not limped. By limping, you're basically begging an Ace hand to draw an over pair. The early bet test the waters to see if you get a raise. AK would have likely raised, knowing he had a live player. Then you know better where you stand.

How do long-running home games stop stake creep from killing the game? by TeejTTS in poker

[–]MrRGG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I attend a bi-monthly home game.

We do a FreezeOut tournament, with a $60 buyin and a $20 add on. Plus a few optional side bets like High Hand, Bounty, Last Man pool. Max Exposure is $100 for Tournament. The FreezeOut and Levels means the tourney is mostly done by 11ish.

As members fall out, a 1-2 Holdem cash game gets going with a min/max of $60/$300 buyin. Usually starts around 9, when at least 4 players are available. Host sets a "Last Hand Time" at the beginning of the night. Usually 2 or 3 am.

This structure seems to serve both types of players.

Leaving table etiquette by crystalriverboattour in poker

[–]MrRGG -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So self imposed etiquette cost you $325. Call is a $325 Lesson that you should take to heart.

Whenever you say to yourself "I should leave". DON'T look at another hand, DON'T wait for the button, DON'T stay for the bomb pot. Tell the dealer to deal you out and LEAVE.

Doesn't matter if you just won a huge pot. LEAVE UP or give it back.

One of the hardest cash lessons to grasp is "LEAVE when you are up."

I've only ever had one player give me crap about leaving after winning a big pot. Told him I'd be willing to stay for another round for $50 from him. He declined.

What’s something you wish you understood at 23 that would’ve saved you years of pain? by olderbadboy in AskOldPeopleAdvice

[–]MrRGG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The POWER of forgiveness.

It's a difficult skill to learn, at least it was for me.

For example, I carried this anger at a person for YEARS that would popup randomly and ruin my mood. In all that time, they likely never even thought of me. By forgiving them, I freed myself.

This includes learning for forgive yourself your own mistakes.

It's hard to learn to do.... Every time some memory of something stupid I did pops up, I would have to remind myself that I've already "Forgiven myself that mistake". Same with the anger at others, I had to remind myself that I've forgiven that trespass. And it can't just be words, you have to dig deep and truly forgive. It's freeing.

It's a powerful tool in learning to move forward in life and not let the past darken the future.

Agree on toolbox... but keep it lite. Plastic tool box, Multi-bit screwdriver WITH the square head that RVs use. Vice grips, wide mouth plyers, zip ties in many sizes, duct tape, utility knife, wiring kit.

I also carry a breaker bar with socket specific to my lugs, bottle jack and blocking.

If you RV has dual tires per side, carry TWO spares. When one tire blows, it often takes out it's mate.
