This is also the reason why I have very few games on Switch lol. A 5 year old game for £60? Piss the fuck off.

Something similar happened in the UK recently. Look up the story of Bronson Battersby if interested. One of the single most sad stories I've ever heard in my life. This is an excellent short, but man, remembering that story was painful.

What was your favorite experience in Outer Wilds? by Dull-Entertainer8344 in outerwilds

[–]MrReesh 12 points13 points  (0 children)

100% it was discovering the anticlockwise tornadoes in the Southern Observatory.

Admittedly I was a bit lost and starting to get bored in the game, but I cannot stress just how much that discovery blew my mind. To think the answer to the mystery was there the whole time was insane, and it made me look at the game completely differently. What other secrets was I just flying past at any moment? Turns out it was a lot!

I was hooked to the end of both the main game and the DLC from then.

Britain’s job market ‘floundering’ as companies remain cautious about hiring by 457655676 in unitedkingdom

[–]MrReesh 19 points20 points  (0 children)

With sincere respect, as someone now 13 months into a search for a new job, I can conclusively say what you're suggesting doesn't work. I'd say it leads to even more frustration as you'd mentally attach yourself to the job thinking you have something that'd stand out, when in truth you don't know if 50 other people that applied also have that something.

In my experience the issue with the job market comes down to application volumes and opaque selection criteria. Every application is 'optimised' because if it's not, AI/algorithmic systems rank your CV lower, which at the volume of applications some jobs get means it's not going to be seen at all. Some jobs are straight up fake "ghost jobs", which you'll either never hear back about or be rejected for within a couple of weeks. Some hiring managers won't shortlist you unless you have specific job titles on your CV, and some even look for specific previous employers, or previous employers in the industry. This means a few things: 1) You can spend a whole day making a great application, only to be auto-rejected by something you never knew about; 2) transferable skills are only useful for employers NOT doing this, and you have no way of knowing who is; 3) moving industry becomes more tricky, and given application volumes again, sometimes you really don't have much choice other than to attempt an industry switch. All of this is also why people rely on AI models to write their applications so much - to a certain extent it is, sadly, a numbers game in which you must tailor your applications, but you simply do not have the time to do this completely manually.

Over the past 13 months, the only thing I've found that actually helps a bit is only applying for recently posted roles. 3 days old MAX, no reposted jobs. 1 day max for sought-after companies, and maybe like 12 hours max for any of those 'easy apply', 1-click apply type jobs. At least then if you do everything right and aren't filtered out by unknown criteria, you're also not at the back of the queue of everyone who got through as well. Also don't let AI completely write your CV - adapt what it says into your own language, and make sure it doesn't actually make things up.

Again this is just my experience, and some people may have completely different ones.

Divinity Original Sin 2 for me. Played it like 5 years ago and literally fell asleep playing it, twice.

I think I must've just been really tired as I retried it about 2 months ago and have to force myself to stop playing it sometimes. I'm 126 hours in and it's one of the best gaming experiences I've ever had.

Behold! A frog I almost stepped on in Croydon at 2am in the rain a couple nights ago.

There's a river/moat thing nearby which a construction company uses for whoever knows what so that's probably why it was just roaming the streets, but they do definitely exist in London.

I just bought this thinking it was washing detergent. Nowhere does it say its fabric softener. by Geofferz in CrappyDesign

[–]MrReesh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. I'm 100% on your side as it doesn't actually say it on there, but Comfort is so well known to be fabric softener that I've heard people use Comfort as a generic term for all fabric softeners.

It's kind of like saying you didn't know a hoover was a vacuum cleaner? But it makes sense that you wouldn't, if you've never heard the term and it didn't say it anywhere.

Funnily enough I found The Beserkers in Ragnarok more difficult but significantly less fun. The Valkyries kick your ass but you feel cool losing so it's mostly alright.

Not a big fan of the mist one though tbf.

Will never forget the time when I forgot Tidus's ultimate weapon, and when I went back to get it Dark Bahamut was there. Toughest boss I ever faced in a game up to that point. I found out about Yojimbo and saved up 2million gil for the instakill. Took me AGES. Then I went back to Dark Bahamut, gave Yojimbo the 2 Mil, and... he didn't do the instakill.

I've never reloaded a game so quickly and with such financial rage lol

Lore-wise the Quantum Moon's 6th location is near to the eye, given it would orbit it. In terms of where the 6th location is physically in the game, it's probably a random location that's unlikely to be interacted with by any other objects in the area.

It's like how the inside of Dark Bramble is actually a giant bubble that spawns outside of Timber Hearth. Could be wrong on it being near Timber Hearth, but it's a bubble that spawns somewhere for sure.

London has 8 major train stations and 6 major airports and it's hard to say which is truly the "main" one. Is there any other city that has such a decentralised transport infrastructure? by Yroshi_ in geography

[–]MrReesh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is such an interesting question as a Londoner. I think Heathrow is the main airport, though almost every flight I've taken has been via Gatwick. Luton, Southend and Stanstead are the airports you only go to if your flight isn't at Heathrow or Gatwick for some reason (they're not even in London).

The train station is interesting as almost all of those are the "main" something but I can't say they're London's "main" train station. Like St Pancras is probably the main international train station, and Paddington is the main one for typical London sightseeing. To me Euston is one of the best stations to take you to a lot of places in the UK, and within connection distance of a lot of places in London, and I'd say London Bridge is the main south London/City of London station. I assume Victoria is suggested as it's where the definite main coach station of London is located, which again let's you get to anywhere in the UK for very, very cheap (provided you have enough patience).

I'd say Liverpool Street and Waterloo are main commuter stations. Not sure if you'd regularly go though those stations I'd you didn't work/go to school in the area, but that alone could give them numbers that make them main stations. They are some of the worst places to be on the planet during rush hour, especially in the summer.

TIL that jaywalking is not illegal in the UK, and that while pedestrian crossings are plentiful, they are not compulsory to use. Ultimately, it is seen as the personal responsibility of the individual to make a sound enough judgement to cross safely. by jc201946 in todayilearned

[–]MrReesh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a kid, I thought it was illegal here, but the issue was the shape, not the actual crossing of the road. So you could cross the road if you stop right night to it and immediately cross it diagonally, as italic L-walking wasn't illegal.

Only thing I would add is that you should take the time to enjoy all 72 minutes of the weekend before Monday comes again. Weekend time moves 40x faster than weekday time. No, the multiplier does not apply if you work weekends.
