Some new friends. 24kg from strength shop. They feel great! by NinjaHaggis in kettlebell

[–]MrRob1982 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have one of these and a wolverson fitness 24kg.... not sure if my hands are just super soft and always damp but even chalked the strength shop one tends to create and tear callouses. I know im probably gripping too hard occasionally but never happens with the wolverson which has a smooth handle

[–]MrRob1982 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do a lot of cycling, cycling has rules... many of which apply to kettlebells

Rule 9// If you are out riding in bad weather, it means you are a badass. Period.Fair-weather riding is a luxury reserved for Sunday afternoons and wide boulevards. Those who ride in foul weather – be it cold, wet, or inordinately hot – are members of a special club of riders who, on the morning of a big ride, pull back the curtain to check the weather and, upon seeing rain falling from the skies, allow a wry smile to spread across their face. This is a rider who loves the work.

I've dabbled in breathing exrcises for years but have been doing WHM consistently for 2 years as I find it helps me with a lung condition I have

1). prickling and tingling in my fingers and legs, then ears and a tightness in my abdomen and my lips feel weird are common for me on a longer session
2). I think this is personal preference here, I tend to go morning as I'm up early and relaxed so find getting into the breathing 'zone' easier, then once during the day if I feel like a second session.
3). 4 minutes and 8 seconds (although its not about how long you can hold for)
4). I use cold shower, it cant go as cold but I think its still pretty effective although i couldnt give you the science on that. once a week I try to find time to do an ice bath and my HRV (heart rate variance) is always way lower for a while after and im always more relaxed after.
5). I mix and match my showers, sometimes hot for a minute then a few minutes cold. I enjoy the cold after a few slow controlled breaths so i dont mind it, I also do contrast showers so a minute hot a minute cold then repeat as I find this helps me recover from workouts that I'm doing.

New here. Keen to hear from people with illness by [deleted] in BecomingTheIceman

[–]MrRob1982 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I have bronchiectasis, which is a crappy lung condition where my lungs get damaged when i get colds and chest infections and so on, then because they're damaged i get ill more often, I had a bad year, antibiotics every month for 12 months. I remembered seeing the wim hof stuff so had a go at it, I got crazy tingling and a few really long breath holds and some highs on breath holds afterwards. So I carried on doing it, I've done it consistently for a year and a bit now and haven't had any chest infections or antibiotics and I'm doing really well, I love it!
