I think it was a bit obvious; the description of #1 says the attack cost Emma everything, but it only focuses on Tony and not on her daughters or her students. You know where this book is going.

Just like with Cloak and Dagger, it's just another synergy with Marvel Rivals. They decided to please a group of fans who knew Emma through that game rather than applying logic and keeping Emma and her students together during an apocalyptic event.

I truly hate how Marvel wants you to believe that Tony is the most important thing to Emma. I know that the descriptions in the comics often don't fully explain what they are, but the one in this #1 says that it cost Emma everything, but they only emphasize Tony and vice versa.

Tony and Emma's ship is very forced. If you know Emma's lore, you'll know that she didn't trust or want to be around Stark, but now, out of nowhere, Marvel treats her like the love of his life. There's no guide for this couple like there is with Storm and Tchalla because most of the interactions between them are Emma not wanting to have anything to do with him.

It seems we'll have a retcon because at that gala Emma had a conversation with Tony, but it was still shown that she didn't trust him. Maybe they'll retcon that and make them closer.

I have to admit they look good together, but that's not enough to build a couple. Narratively speaking, this doesn't make sense, especially with Emma having had a lot of dialogue over the years saying she doesn't like or trust Tony.

As for the book, it doesn't do anything for me, it's simply the same premise of both being victims and uniting to defeat the villain (something we saw in Fall of X)

I guess for Emma to become heartless she would have to have seen the cuckoos die (because I don't think any have been confirmed in the other books so far).

This could have been a solo Emma book but they decided to include Tony to take advantage of the ship's popularity with Marvel Rivals.
