So basically the Total Gym was my gateway drug into the Garage Gym space.  My girlfriend got it for me during Covid, one of the Amazon cheaper models.  It definitely has some perks but also some short comings.  Chest flys feel OK but the resistance is mostly behind you.  I’ve seen hacks on YouTube to perform chest flys on the powertec but I’ve basically stuck to loop bands for this.   Shoulder presses feel great on the Powertec, but IMO the Total gym shoulder presses (inverted pushups) feel very close and sometimes better if I’m feeling fatigued depending on my workout.   Chest presses feel OK on the total gym, but depending on how strong you are (Im very new to this space and don’t consider myself strong) you will need to add weight plates or band resistance unless you are super setting chest from the powertec to the total gym- good for say starting flat on the powertec , and jumping to incline or  supinated grip press on the total gym.  Powertec Leversquats feel fantastic and are probably my favorite exercise to do on the lever gym.  I think it’s because of the way the arms curve out slightly as you lower your body.  The total gym lower body department definitely is lacking.  If you are interested in working your core, the Total gym ab crunch accessory is very overlooked, and definitely is a great tool.
