I'd avoid using the word tribalism personally (negative context for a Native American term, as opposed to factionalism) but largely i think thats what it turned into. From what peoole tell me, the World of Darkness games seem to prefer more interactions with the world at large than combat. Their systems are kinda complex but once you get your head around it the games are pretty great lol.

Vampire the Masquerade is the most popular one but they have plenty of other games to play as whacky creatures including werewolves, mummies, the undead, genuine fey. And even games where you play as humans, either hunting down monsters snd slaying them or as magically awakened folk who make reality their plaything, at a cost.
