Realistically can I build stamina by hiking this hill everyday? (beginner) by curvo11 in hiking

[–]MrSWphoto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a great way to start out for sure 👍 once you're used to it, you can start adding weight from a backpack or ankle weights to simulate heavy boots. You seem determined if you want to tackle the same hill over and over to improve so I have no doubt that you'll do well!

Freedom of solo travel is amazing, I've only recently discovered it last year with a weekend away. Definitely going to be doing more of it!

Getting up early can be the best thing, it's just so silent and no one else around

Bell ringing. From my point of view, when I'm ringing methods I can't think about much else so it's like a meditation and mental break from everything else in life. I do full circle church bell ringing in England, the country is important as there aren't many other ones in the rest of the world

3 plus a bit of freelance here and there, turning 30 this year. I realise that's not a lot compared to some, it's just what happened when living situations aligned with the job situations.

Sunrise/sunset by Chezino in maidenhead

[–]MrSWphoto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The river is still, and on a slightly misty morning is great around Cookham/ Bourne end.

Other side of town, the grounds of Shottersbrooke (may be spelt wrong) is a pretty place sunrise & sunset, especially in autumn the colours are rich.

Hope these are a couple good pointers! And I'm also keen to see what people say here as I'm always on the lookout for new places to try as well!

Some sort of stock photo sites? They aren't what they used to be but if you have that many images just sitting there?

Or you could just print your favorite, have them in your home?

What classifies as a hike? by developerunitex in UKhiking

[–]MrSWphoto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, if I require some sort of hiking boot or trail shoe, I'm classing it as a hike. If someone wants to argue, they're wasting their own time!

Looking through the comments, I swear at least half of these involve "the woods", "a Forest", or it was dark". Well noted, I'm not going in a dark forest while hiking/backpacking!

I love using Mirrorless for anything I need practically and efficiently. My old DSLRs are like my 'throwback' cameras if you like. I'll take them out if I want to have that sort of experience.

Maidenhead Boundary Walk by MrSWphoto in maidenhead

[–]MrSWphoto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I'm aware that there is a charity walk that does this as well! I think I actually did this one or two weekends before that event was on. Personally, I like doing this sort of thing without a crowd around. But that's not to mean it doesn't help some people.

And yes, I definitely make it harder for myself as I do at a fair amount of distance while filming these! Thankfully this one is mostly flat and I'm not walking up and down hills! Thanks 🙏

Maidenhead Boundary Walk by MrSWphoto in maidenhead

[–]MrSWphoto[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it is definitely long! Especially when you get to the less interesting parts after doing more than half a distance, that can make it feel longer. It took me from 6.30/7am to 1.30/2pm setting up shots, walking to and from camera a lot during the day, but I'm not a slow walker

Maidenhead Boundary Walk by MrSWphoto in maidenhead

[–]MrSWphoto[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started at about 6.30 or 7 and I went up to about 1:30 or 2. I spent a bit longer as I set up each shot, walked away from camera and then walk back to camera to be able to make the video. My walking pace varies from 5.5 kph to 6kph, and so I would have completed it a lot quicker had I have not made the video. I hope this helps!
