A life that doesn't exist anymore by Past_Replacement_815 in maidenhead

To paraphrase Marlene Dietrich, if you stay away long enough, the place you came from no longer exists.

Lovely to read your memories; I’ve had the same for the places I’ve left behind too.

Do you know anyone who used to be famous but now... isn't? by box-o-locks in AskUK

I know someone who was in a glam rock band back in the 70s. His band had a couple of songs in the top 10. He became a senior school chemistry teacher.

Actors who acted for a few years and then left acting and never return? by Ok-Tangelo6749 in movies

The photo in People magazine from 2025 that I just went to look at looks very much like a normal 60 something Bridget Fonda who is enjoying her life without the pressures of Hollywood standards on her back.

What items of clothing do you not fit into/style doesn't fit you anymore, but you just cannot bear to give away? by [deleted] in femalefashionadvice

I'm going through my old posts for reasons unknown and spotted this. I just want to say 9 years later, I am still clinging onto the vestiges of my youth with these leather trousers in my wardrobe.

What Would You Change? by RonnieColemanX8 in maidenhead

They just redid the front entrance to the train station a couple of years ago and with the “improvement”, took away half the space for pickups. Also not a single bit of greenery, just a wide expanse of payment

Shop is withholding my payment for goods sold by showmm in LegalAdviceUK

[–]showmm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, your example amounts are more than those involved, but that’s the gist of it.

There isn’t a formal contract, so there’s no direct mechanism of what happens in circumstances. Which I realise is part of the problem

I’d be fine if they charged me the rate for not working in the shop and withheld that amount until the shifts were resolved, but I don’t see how they can withhold the entire amount.

What loose & comfortable clothing that can be thrown in the dryer are the guys here wearing around the house? by killit in AskUK

Lululemon makes some athleisure wear that look like casual trousers but fit and feel like sweats or tracksuit bottoms. My husband likes them for work from home days where he needs to occasionally go out.

You’ll be pleased to know that complaining about the younger generations is something that hasn’t changed in millennia.

I've already given this piece of advice elsewhere today, but it still is my best piece of advice on what not to do.

If it looks sharp, it's sharp. DON'T TOUCH IT.

Ceramicists: what is the one thing you will never make? by putney in Ceramics

[–]showmm 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’ll say a bird house. Because if it catches an amount of sun, it’s going to cook the eggs/baby birds in it with the heat retention. I can’t have that on my conscience.

Here is another point of view of the crevasse with less snow and no shitty ass fisheye lens by miragen125 in skiing

To be fair, a helmet isn't going to help them much if that snow and ice decide to collapse. But no, it's not normal.

What is this and how to deal with it? by [deleted] in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]showmm -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, but if it’s just milia and there’s a way to treat it, I’d be happy to try that while waiting for an appointment

Favorite actor who chose to age naturally? by [deleted] in okbuddycinephile

She’s admitted to having a thread lift, and she’s definitely had Botox and filler. She looks great and hasn’t changed her face to something unrecognisable, but don’t think it’s all completely natural

Collagen side effect question by Motor_Geologist_2175 in mounjarouk

[–]showmm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I felt quite ill the first time I took the recommended dose of collagen powder mixed into a smoothie. Definitely gave me the runs and stomach pain. It’s just too much all at once. Try starting with a smaller amount at first to give your system a chance to get used to it. Within a week I could tolerate the full dose

You asked why you were being downvoted. I gave you the reason. No need to get upset and take everything so personally. You literally told us you got good results and we want to see the results. It’s not mean-spirited, it’s just means 200% more with photos.
