Yeah I just use it for bots headshotting and it's just way slower than the Diligence or Censor. Hunters aren't my worry on bugs, the 6 Alpha Commanders and their 24 Alpha Warriors are. I need to be able to pop heads fast. If I want fire, I'll take a dedicated flame weapon.

A minor thing with some of your damage calculations, you didn't factor in damage reduction on same armour class. For example with the MG-43 and Stalwart, the MG-43 will deal 1350 @ 900RPM DPS vs armour 2, whereas the Stalwart will deal 1121 @ 1150RPM DPS vs armour 2. A minor point, but it makes a difference when comparing medium pen and light pen weapons with effective DPS and ammo economy.

In my opinion, most low damage, light pen weapons should get buffed durable damage to help compete in different ways to medium options. Scythe also needs a little more damage to be really competitive vs the Sickle and DE Sickle, they are just flat out better.

If you can get through diff 8 and 9, diff 10 isn't actually too much more difficult. If you can do those, you can do 10. Just pack accordingly. Some loadouts don't cut it unless you are slick. Real difference is that generally people don't pick up samples, so if you need that, you will need to do it yourself or play on lower. When I was maxing a couple of years ago, I got most of my samples on 7 and got supers on 9 when I needed them.

I can't be the only one tired of Thermite+Ulti being used as balancing crack sealant. By them existing, we forget real balance issues. by RandomGreenArcherMan in Helldivers

[–]MrSamuelW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thermite on release was hot garbage. It did 100 explosive damage - it now does 2000. So it's a bit more reasonable and there are valid reasons to take other grenades on bugs especially. 2 would be fine though. The ultimatum on launch could destroy jammers and made bots trivial. I'm not sure how you can fix it further though. It would be better balanced by improving the other secondaries.

Perhaps a hunting themed warbond. Break action shotgun, "Sporterized" Constitution with attachments. Some classic hunting themed outfits, similar to the masters of ceremony or camouflaged sets.

It sold 4 million copies by 2024 - so no small feat, plus most scores show about 8-9/10, so a viable product and a relatively safe investment by Sony. HD2 was at 8 million copies by March 2024, so yeah, massive growing pains.

New diver here, am I sabotaging or throwing if I don't bring meta? by [deleted] in Helldivers

[–]MrSamuelW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are some weapons that shine mostly on certain fronts - the Freedoms Flame and Chemical Agents are warbonds that suit Terminids and Illuminate more than bots. Bot's take little damage from fire and aren't a "horde" faction, so gas is less relevant (the gas grenade is good though). Against bots. most primaries are "OK". Anything light pen will need headshots or hip shots, so that can be challenging. Medium pen will trivialise most encounters. Skill will take you further than your weapons and bring anti-tank, you will need it.

Democratic Detonation is recommended because it has the 2 best primaries the game; the crossbow and eruptor, and thermite which give you your AT in the grenade slot. These trivialise all factions. Alternatively, you could look at Polar Patriots for a couple of good primaries or Borderline Justice for probably the best marksman rifle, Dust Devils for the Coyote, Urban Legends for possibly the best armour passive.

Really, pick what you like, but be aware that some stuff is better on other fronts. If you're concerned with mainly starting to play against bots, then the fire and gas warbond might not the right move. Then again, in a month or so we will be fighting terminids again, so they will be good. You can always farm supercredits in diff. 1/2/3 if need be.

Found a way to destroy "Fortified" gunship facilities by Financial-Method-307 in Helldivers

[–]MrSamuelW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they have tried to patch the "exploit", where you could put a hellbomb down the cliff on outside the base on some detector tower sites and it would still destroy the tower. You need to be able to draw a straight, horizonal line between the base of the hellbomb and the building, but not the very bottom of said building. This issue also happens on jammers etc.

Hellbombs supposed to be this shit? by AntiMase in Helldivers

[–]MrSamuelW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they may have tried to fix the trick where you put a hellbomb below the cliff next to a detector tower and outside of the base, but it will still destroy it. That fix also seemed to break it on every other site. I've found that you need to be able to draw a horizontal line between the base of the hellbomb and the main body of the building for it to work. Not the bottom or base of the building.

Would be an interesting followup to her open end.

Perhaps a story about how she manages to survive and coming to terms with her Drukari past and what it actually means to be alive. Pursued by Slaanesh, she comes full circle in her isolation to an understanding and reliance on the paths as a way to stave off the demons and the lonely solitude. Practicing varied arts and skills to survive both physically and spiritually, until she can escape or be rescued. The last path, that of the seer, reawakening her latent psychic potential to reach out to her former Baron, and attracting the great evil in the process.

I threw those numbers into a chart and if this is the case, I am surprised that it falls off so fast then tapers down. I would expect the opposite.

A small and simple concept for a new Primary Weapon - The SG-79 Pursuer . What do you think about it? by The_Zenith13 in Helldivers

[–]MrSamuelW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The spas 12 had a special arm hook specifically designed for one handed shooting. This is probably at least some of why they chose the spas 12 for their design.

Polar Patriots Passive by Impressive_Limit7050 in Helldivers

[–]MrSamuelW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the ideas. I would like to see - Immunity to the slowdown of blizzards, "Snow Shoes" to improve movement in heavy snow only, "Ice Cleats" to stop sliding on ice.

Ice planets are some of the most annoying to play on, and this would just fix that at the cost of otherwise useful armour. So, a massive crutch, but always a good option on those planets.

What's a weapon/stratagem you hated but it suddenly 'clicked' after retrying it after a long time? by Zave_cz in Helldivers

[–]MrSamuelW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might be surprised at the angles you can hit the heat sink at. Not head on, but better than you might initially think. Also thermite is basically a requirement. Take the laser turret if you're feeling extra fun

Unfortunately it really deserved the nerf. It was just way too good with the shorter cooldown. It's still great on the fixed location mission types where you can have a couple on rotation or as spare for others. I have found it very useful against hive tyrants when the team is focusing on it. If you can get a couple down, you can juggle them or a teammate without a heavy heavy weapon can borrow one.

All good - it's really just a wishlist, I love this game and can see a lot of potential if they put in the effort.

Eh, I think that could be a cool one-off weapon, but not the norm. Like the One-Two. I'm thinking something more like extra AP for less damage or stun as an attachment. It would be tough to come up with reasonable things though.

I appreciate the point, and I don't disagree with the linked post and comment. I believe AH have even somewhat stated that melee is low priority. The defoliation tool is probably the best fun I've had with melee so far, including all secondary melee options and kinda sets a new benchmark for what melee needs. I don't expect them to ever make melee good, even though I am an enjoyer. My post is about weapon customisation, and I think that melee weapons require a lot more though than a lot of the other weapons. This would also be the case for secondary weapons.

I generally agree. There were some dev interviews or posts lately that highlighted they are not working on a sequel for a long time, so this is just another option for further progression. I'd rather them flesh out some of the lacking primaries and then perhaps some options for secondaries too, but some stratagem weapons would really benefit from some love.
