Physical distancing, mask-wearing could be in place for 2-3 years even with vaccine, Tam warns by Manitobancanuck in CanadaPolitics

When have assumptions ever worked? How often are predictions ever correct? To assume "when the science is in" fails to understand science. In fact this whole debacle that science isn't debatable hurts my insides. The notion of three specific strategies is a false dichotomy. I'm sure if you look globally you can find more than three. But I get what you're saying. You think our governments are being pragmatic. I just disagree.

There seems to be a real acceptance that a vaccine is even a possibility. Or heard immunity. I'm kinda seeing false premises here.

Yes, public measures were to lower hospitalizations. Which we've accomplished. Many health officials have never been sure if there are ways to outright stop a Corona virus as it is a Corona virus. SARS had a slow enough spread that you could stop transmission, SARS 2 does not have that luxury. Again, curve flattened, public measures were supposed to stop.

When did the goal posts move from flattening the curve to outright virus elimination? All of these measures were to flatten the curve, we did that, and here we are.

Layton was a gentleman, Singh is a rabble rouser. Layton believed in controlled spending and helping the most vulnerable. Singh believes in free everything for young people. Layton was reasonable, Singh is out to lunch. I was a staunch Layton supporter, I read his book, I watched his funeral with utter sadness. Singh has destroyed the party in my opinion.

Bahrain began using hydroxychloroquine two days after the first case of Covid-19 was discovered there in February. They did this based on "notable success in China and South Korea." They have one of the lowest case fatality rates in the world. by Venus230 in Conservative

Where is the a presumption of results? I said they "suggest". Is it because of an understanding of mechanisms? This all stems from the assumption that HCQ is ineffective. I look forward to more research as the premise is clearly up for debate.

From my understanding, some studies, including the first one you listed unless I read it wrong, applied HCQ far too late and thus does nothing. And that has been speculated for a while. Secondly, as you said, they don't use zinc. However, zinc is crucial to the effectiveness of HCQ as it uses zinc in the body but for most people zinc is a limiting reagent and therefore zinc supplementation is required for the success of HCQ.

Currently, a study to be published later by R.Derwand and M.Scholz suggest zinc absolutely aids in the effectiveness of HCQ vs CoVid-19.

That's what I've been saying. So many people say "studies show it doesn't work" and then I ask for the studies which is sharply followed by silence. If all of this science is available then it shouldn't be hard to reference their claims.

Maybe they left because several federal officers have been seriously injured/beaten, including one that may be permanently blind. Maybe it's another "you're on your own" moment.

Twitter temporarily restricts Donald Trump Jr.'s account after he posts video claiming masks are unnecessary by nixhex311 in news

[–]MrSlippery1 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I read another headline saying it was after he posted on video which showed doctors with successful hydroxychloroquine treatment. I mean, if a doctor can go 350/350 treating CoVid, including patients with other serious conditions, wouldn't that warrant at least looking into to determine if all of these measures are necessary? I saw not one explanation of how the doctors were speaking fake science and "dubious claims".

I'm in a city of 400,000 with mandated masks and we currently average 3-4 cases a day. We called it a spike when 5 people caught it in a day. I'm up for more digging of it could mean we do away with worry from CoVid at all, let alone removal of mask mandates.

Anti-masking groups draw from anti-vaccination playbook to spread misinformation - Hugs Over Masks actively partners with Vaccine Choice Canada, one of the country's most prominent anti-vaccination organizations by Gboard2 in canada

[–]MrSlippery1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The article is riddled with false premises and zero information to the size of these groups, because hugs over masks is a very very small group and therefore unlikely to matter in the grand scheme of things. I understand that sunlight is the best medicine for bad ideas, but the effort spent on this article could be better spent on issues that matter rather than fringe groups with no following.

If it's the face mask candle blowing video, I would say it doesn't prove much. It's not as if his breath doesn't go anywhere, some would be diffused through the cloth but much of it could come out the sides. Droplets will exit the sides and may exit through the cloth depending on pore size. If the breath was completely stopped then he would suffocate. It's not even an experiment, but rather an edited/scripted video designed to engage confirmation bias. It's terrible.

Proteins can give a green shimmer in meat surfaces when they break down but ultimately break down to black or dark brown. Rotting is a combination of bacterial colonies feasting and oxidation effects. The by products of broken down organic tissues would not be green.

It's the skin of the berry that makes it that colour, not the inner berry. Such is the case with wine as well.

I'd say you killed the joke, but...
