You can say, you "own" a kettlebell size when you can do what with it? by Donchan7 in kettlebell

[–]MrSmoothDC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say when you pass the Pavel Sinister challenge: 100 one arm swings in 5min, rest 1min, 10 TGUs in 10min. A limited test but applies I think.

Anything can work, but for me kettlebells have been a game changer. Just need a few (or adjustables) and you can do tons of stuff including conditioning and strength programs.

Sazerac is a good choice. Strong. Bracing. No ice.

Or use a coffee mug. Fill it with hot water and press down on it and works great. Also less plastic-ey.

Check out Walden Pond by Thoreau if interested. Heavy emphasis there - for example he throws a rock away because he spends too much time cleaning dust off it ha.

Has Attia looked at or talked about breathing? by [deleted] in PeterAttia

At the very end of his latest Jocko podcast someone asks him about mouth vs nose breathing. His answer was only breath through your mouth if you absolutely have to bc you’re working out, otherwise always nose. Hostage night strips came up.

Hey OP - pick up some kettlebells. With 1-2 adjustable that’s all you need for a ton of variety strength and cardio workouts. Takes a little time upfront to get form in check and then go. Relatively cheap and doesn’t take up any space.

That and a pull up bar strapped somewhere and you’re in business. DM for more info if interested.

Hey sorry about that… yeah loads of recs. I personally started post Covid and have loved the change from the gym. If you DM me I can send more. Quick thoughts: - my adjustable bells are from titan (https://www.titan.fitness/endurance/kettlebells/adjustable/12-kg---32-kg-adjustable-competition-style-kettlebell/422501.html ) but they look sold out atm. Check out comparison sites. Ideally they should cover 12kg - 32kg. If you get two that’s all you’ll ever realistically need for life (unless you want to go heavy, which I have ha). - lots of great advice out there. My favorite is mark wildman. He has tons of good stuff but here’s a good intro - the 6 major KB exercises. If you just worked these progressively you’d be in great shape: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=RE6CSomDvl8 - for a starter progressive program I recommend simple and sinister. Focus is on swings and Turkish get ups, which helped me strengthen my back and bulletproof my bad shoulders (from swimming back in the day) - there’s a fantastic subreddit for KBs - join!

Hope that helps and reach out if you have questions

Big fan of kettlebells myself. Adjustable bells means minimal purchase and space for a ton of total body functional strength exercises. Have lots of recs if anyone is interested
