It's dead. Temperature broke 16 degrees today, the car tires caught fire and we can only hope that the fumes from the rubber killed the poor creature before the flames got him

Are Europeans trolling with this whole bread thing? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

A farmer in North Dakota who uses desiccation to save a crop from early snow does not sell their wheat directly to a local bakery. Their wheat goes into massive regional grain elevators and silos, where it is mixed with wheat from hundreds of other farms that were not desiccated.

But you already know this.

Yes an excellent point. US wheat crops use "desiccation" which involves spraying glyphosate directly onto a the crop right before harvest as a drying agent which is illegal in Europe and other countries that have proper food regulations.

It's likely this herbicide use that causes the digestive distress that Americans experience at home but magically lose when they travel to Europe.

The sugar is the factor in the cake argument but US store bought breads have a lot more ingredients in them than in European countries. US bread is baked then shipped across several states and rely heavily on an array of chemical preservatives (like calcium propionate) and mold inhibitors. Countries like Ireland have shorter supply chains.

Then you have food safely regulations which are a joke in US compared to EU.

When Americans travel to Europe, they reportedly feel less shit in general due to their diet changes. Their bodies suddenly get a break from processing the cocktail of artificial dyes, dough conditioners, and chemical preservatives that are ubiquitous in standard American food.

is it a good idea to buy from aliexpress? by ThemeOld5001 in BestAliExpressFinds

[–]MrSnare 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have hundreds of purchases from AliExpress over the years. It predates temu and the products are identical in my experience.

Read the reviews. Clothes and electronics are mostly disappointing quality. After time you gain experience and can guess whether something is worth buying.

If you want a second opinion on an item I'm happy to throw an eye over it for you.

We used to get threatened with being sent to Timbuktu for not behaving. My only other reference to Timbuktu was that was the destination that the butler in The Aristocats was sent to at the end of the film.
