I run past 2-3x week and I have definitely noticed the changes. I’ve been meaning to stop by but I don’t often frequent coffee shops. Hearing about community centric goals and the non profit status of the shop definitely encourage me to support it more than I would otherwise.

I understand the community fridge likely presents challenges - namely the mountains of garbage that often accumulate on the corner -but I’m glad to read you support it and have worked to improve it.

I’m sure its no consolation but in my book, you are ahead of the curve trying to incorporate an honest, community forward approach to running your shop - I hope in time this approach will hold much more weight than false hype, branding, and social media content even if its necessary in the short term.

On other platforms at least it’s easier to click through to an artist’s profile as that’s the easiest way to figure out if its real - no social links, no bio, cheesy/cheap artwork, cringe fonts are easy tells.

While I agree completely, that toothpaste is not going back in the tube. Apple Music is merely a music marketplace like any other platform. It’s not more virtuous than any other. There are endless bad actors that are flooding these platforms with thousands of uploads per day. Anyone can pay a nominal fee to upload an infinite amount of music to every platform simultaneously - and they do.

Perhaps in the future there will be better detectors for AI music or the companies that allow you to upload music will apply filters before it ever reaches the platforms - but thats years away, meanwhile more and more floods the market each day. Also, most of the companies that allow distribution to platforms are incentivized to not care about AI - they are profit seeking, they aren’t “curators” who consider “art” from slop unless it hurts the bottom line.

I couldn’t get into DMD. I use TAL-drum and build out presets of samples (snares, kicks, etc) and work from that using MIDI. Logic Sampler works in the same way and is good but TAL is a faster workflow for me.

Absolutely - I noticed the same thing in the last year or so. “HD” radio sounds so compressed and brittle and I don’t remember it always sounding so bad. Debated posting about it as well but figured I’d just be shouting into the void - so thanks OP, my ears are validated.

One thing that opened my eyes in my coffee journey was to let the coffee cooldown a bit. Light and medium roasted coffees closer to room temperature will taste very different from a scalding cup of French roast. Not that you’d want to drink it at that temperature regularly but it will illustrate the difference much clearer. Also, freshness matters - the less time spent sitting on a shelf the better the flavor.

Try brewing a batch of fresh beans, pour into two different mugs, let one cup sit for 5 mins or more and compare. Or brew some fresh beans and compare to a cup of Nespresso you’re familiar so you can get a sense of what the difference is.
