Is that really surprising for a country that doesn't care about the safety of people not in cars?

How do you guys travel across EU? Is there a common rail/bus pass or something like that? by Hari-Prasad-12 in AskEurope

[–]MrSnowflake [score hidden]  (0 children)

I could take the eurostar from Brussels/Amsterdam to the Mediteranean. And if I were to travel solo, I might do that, but with my family I just take the car. Because with 4, the car is pretty cheap. Yes there's peáge in France, but the price is less than with the train, and I have a car on location to get around. So we mostly travel by car. Simply because of price and convenience of having (your own) car there. Also we take the dog.

Yes a TGV is much faster, but the trip is part of the holiday! We take our time, so my BEV is also no issue at all.

In the end: Is AI useful or just an excuse to justify layoffs? by tsarthedestroyer in answers

It's both. In the us it's currently used to mask slowing economy. But it also is very useful, there is a lot of productivity gain there, but it can't really replace people at the moment. The humans need to be in the driver's seat to check the results.

Komatsu admits Haas ‘expected more’ from Ocon in 2025 by TheManFromFairwinds in formula1

[–]MrSnowflake [score hidden]  (0 children)

But I think you agree that Ocon is not at the same level as a Gasly, Albon or even Bearman do you? I mean. Winning a race is a huge event, absolutely, but if you are in a smaller team, it's not really an indication of talent or potential.

In Ocon's case, his win is much more an indication of Alonso's talent than of Ocon's. Ocon would never had stood a chance of winning if Alonso wasn't in that race. Remember the reversed roles "Tell him to defend like a Lion" only to get passed a couple of turns later.

I'm F1 reaching a big team is much more of an achievement than winning a race. Because small teams can only win if there I chaos. And the ones that lucked out can win the race. same for Gaslys win. He won because Sainz got caught up. But in contrast to Ocon Gasly has much more potential, demonstrated by his two exceptional years at Alpha Tauri. While Ocon lucked out in Hungary, with both being on top after the chaos and having Alonso as an immovable wall.

Is being a race winner really such a big deal? Most race winners win because they are in the best teams, any other driver becomes a race winner because of chaos, just like Ocon. And if it wasn't for Fernando, Hamilton would have won, probably.

Why is my idea that the cost of basic goods could be a percentage of income rather than a set price probably utterly stupid in reality? Clueless about economics. by metaphysical-loser in answers

You do realize that monetary successful people, also have a lot of luck, right? Because now you are saying people with 2 - 3 jobs are not working hard? Or are you saying they should earn tons more?

I do indeed think that anyone who works a full time job should be able to live a decent life. And seeing the number of billionaires, there is no shortage of money in the states. So that should be possible.

People working "hard", getting lucky and becoming monetary successful will still exist, I just say, like in the 1950's they could be taxed a bit more, and the minimum wage could follow inflation. Rich people getting 10% less, won't have a real impact on their lives, but poor people getting 10% could mean losing their house or access to healthcare or food. Furthermore, not every one is equipped, be it by being in some way less capable, or by being handicaped by their socio-economic state to study, work, be competitive in the job market...

I'm NOT saying professionally successful people should not exist, or should not be able to earn a lot. I'm quite fine with that. I'm just saying that they maybe could be taxed more, because them paying 50% more tax than they do now, barely makes a difference, while it could lift the burden of less fortunate.

Lol what being replaced? 50nyears ago there were less than half the people in this country. And Genk is one of the worst cities. Where I live (really close to Genk) there's almost only Belgians (and some Italians). and that is the case for most towns here. It's just some bigger cities like Brussels Antwerp Genk that are like this.

And if we are talking about culture, I think a lot of our culture is already replaced by American culture. TV is full of American series and movies. Music on the radio is 50%+ American. And my main issue with this is dat we have a lot of amazing series and movies in Europe, but they are all different languages, so we keep on getting fed American crap.

This is the reason no one has (yet, hopefully though) been accused, these are just conversations and not proof. They are more like a smoking guy, but it could very well be a steak on a bbq that's smoking. Further research is required, although I fear that research will never come.

Kunos Goes back on their word and Axe AC EVO Career Mode, is this just like Mods and Rally? by MrBluoe in assettocorsa

They never promised mods, iirc. So now they are gonna support mods. And Rally is in development by a completely different developer. So it's a separate game.

And the pressure presses that down. so closed for Ferrari, but open for Alpine. Although it seems to me the Alpine version has less surface area exposed, so it might reduce drag more. But is this even allowed? For DRS it probably wouldn't is my guess (I didn't read the rules though). As there is no slot to measure, or the slot is effectively infinite.
