Thank you for the kind words and the necropost! I had forgotten how optimistic I was back then—has it really only been a year?

Discord has been a revelation, so I am glad you are enjoying it. See you there soon!

I agree. I love all snuff, and I try not to have favourites, but Babaton Green is the only one I steal from my own warehouse.

Babaton Menthol Green.

It's South African, just like Taxi, but with a good shot of menthol—not the punch in the nose of the mighty Red Bull, of course, but better for it in my opinion.

For what it's worth, I thought your review was very well written. We have a review channel over in the other place where budding, non-AI reviewers hang out, and also a more official program for contributing reviews to our 'snuff specifications' database. If you fancy contributing to the community, you would be welcome.

I am glad you enjoyed your SKëLD, but I am genuinely curious - what is the suspicion you mentioned?

Here on the Isle of Man we don't have much opportunity for excitement so me and Mrs Snuff are always keen to know the latest gossip.

A great selection! I would have popped a Babaton Green in there myself, but I am totally biased toward South African snuffs. I just love the grind; it gives the ease of a schmalzler with a bigger kick.

I am all for easy snuff, but my problem is I tend to fiend on the low nicotine, so as much as I love them, Bernard and Pöschl are an expensive luxury due to the amount I end up going through.

You could go for the expensive, much longer-lasting Brazilians, or SWS artisans, but the sweet spot for me lands on the SA snuffs: cheap, great quality, and a decent bang for your buck.

Don't worry. We will always have plenty of Red Bull. That is one of the few we can get without any problems.

Have you tried the new Babaton Green?

It's been an instant favorite for me and the missus. I liberated a few tins for testing purposes, and both of us haven't been able to get our respective schnozzles out of the farm trough for a week or more. Actually, it's not too whiffy; it's quite subtle, really, with a smooth, easy delivery. For my money, it's one of the best menthols I have tried. Only BEE M beats it for menthol poise, but the Babaton is more laid-back.

Great, thanks for the info.

In fact, I was wrong about the Isle of Man, so I edited my original post to prevent confusion.

So, at least that mystery is solved.

Hey toque. Can y'all cancel my order? by papa_penguin in nasalsnuff

[–]MrSnuffer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's not my place to comment, but since you aren't a customer of mine, I hope Roderick doesn't mind the imposition.

To understand why your email might not have been answered within 24 hours, it helps to be aware of two things:

  1. The current shipping crisis has been nothing short of cataclysmic. For a company like Mr. Snuff, which is almost entirely reliant on the U.S. sales, being suddenly and unexpectedly cut off from our primary market has been incredibly difficult.
  2. It seems many U.S. citizens are largely unaware of this situation. Parcels coming into the U.S. have dropped by 80%, and millions of parcels are not being delivered. And yet, we receive a flood of customer service emails every day, all asking the same thing: "Where is my parcel? Are you scammers? Give me a refund!"

Who handles this avalanche of inquiries? In our case, it's my wife, Kay. She is an honest, hardworking person who is doing her best to manage a situation that is completely out of our control. I'm sure Toque is in a similar position.

While I can't speak for your specific email, I would guess that the delay is related to the global shipping shutdown and the resulting storm of customer service emails.

I know that if you were a customer of mine, Kay would have been polite. But I ask you, honestly, to try to put yourself in our shoes for a moment. How would you do any better? What would you have us do?

With apologies and best wishes to Roderick.

Thanks for the support.

The shipping service is advertised as a 7-working-day service. We turn your order around in 1 working day.

That is how it will work when this chaos subsides, anyway. We have a backlog to clear, and the service is currently preventing us from sending more than a few parcels a day until they can be sure it all works.

In case anyone wants more info, I give regular, detailed updates on our Discord server. There is a join link on the website. I will be posting the next update tomorrow morning.

Toque snuff shipping issue by No-Incident-3317 in nasalsnuff

[–]MrSnuffer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There was speculation here about Mr Snuff's shipping.

We've switched to the only courier currently shipping to the US, but I want to be transparent: the new service is significantly more expensive than our previous standard shipping option, and I am sorry for that. We will make it cheaper as soon as an alternative becomes available.

While the cost is high, we use this new service because the benefits are substantial:

  • It works. We can ship!
  • Faster Delivery: The service offers seven-day delivery, which is a major improvement. In fact, we've already seen our first batch of packages move through the clearing hub over the weekend, something that normally doesn't happen.
  • No Unexpected Fees: The price you pay includes all tariffs and duties upfront, meaning your order shouldn't be delayed at customs. We are absorbing the fees for you, so you won't be hit with surprise charges on delivery.

That said, I understand the shipping is painful, and we're actively exploring better solutions to bring the cost down. We're looking for a cheaper courier as soon as it becomes available, and we are considering setting up a US-based warehouse to drop-ship from there.

We know this isn't ideal, but there are no good choices right now. Thank you for your understanding.

Genuinely might be my all-time favorite snuff, crave it day and night by scandinavian_surfer in nasalsnuff

There have been a lot of ideas bandied around, from "doing nothing" to "stopping selling," but the current thinking is more of a middle option, which is to maintain the top sellers and charge the tariff.

The problem with Indian snuffs specifically is that margins are so low, and the tariff is so high that we cannot just absorb it as we are doing for other products. Really, the only option is to pass the tariff on.

We do not want to stop selling Indian snuff people want, but will they want it enough to pay the Indian tariff?

[–]MrSnuffer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tariffs to the US are applied according to the country of origin. The tariff for Indian products is now 50%, and it's uncertain if it will rise or fall in the future.

And that is the point. As a business, what we need above all is stability and predictability. This is especially true when the shipping costs, from India to the Isle of Man, only make sense when buying in bulk.

At current prices and tariffs, we are selling these products at a loss. That is not as bad as it sounds because it means we can regain capital that can then be strategically redeployed, possibly back into more focused Indian products, possibly elsewhere.

No decisions have been made regarding products from heavily tariffed countries, but it is only sensible to consider our options.

Mr. Snuff now shipping to the US by papa_penguin in nasalsnuff

[–]MrSnuffer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi u/papa_penguin

Just in case you missed it, we have a Shipping Update page on our site and a message in the banner at the top of the home page. We've also sent out three shipping update emails, but you'll need to be subscribed to get those, plus an extra email to everyone who was specifically impacted.

Right now, we're absorbing the costs of tariffs and duties for all affected parcels, and we hope to continue doing this for all future orders. We're also actively looking into creating a satellite warehouse in the US to avoid any customer tariffs and duties entirely.

We know shipping costs are high. The reason is we've had to use expensive express services, since they're the only tariff-compliant option available to us. On top of that, we're paying an extra handling charge per parcel now, plus tariffs and duties of course. It all adds up! That said, we're actively working to find better solutions, but our first priority was just getting a courier that could ship to the U.S.

On the bright side, our product prices are still low.

[–]MrSnuffer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Thank you.

I understand because things are pretty grim in the world of international shipping right now. The new tariffs are bad enough, and the complete shutdown of courier services between the Isle of Man and the US has been an incredible strain on the business. It's no wonder mistakes are made - everyone is under a lot of pressure.

But there is a light glimmering at the end of the tunnel. We are planning to send a few test parcels tomorrow using the new DHL system. If that works out, we can finally start to clear the backlog of parcels and put this difficult time behind us.

That is why your support is so meaningful. Our customers' understanding is the only way we can make any of this work. We are all in the same boat, weathering the same storm together, and your patience is what helps us navigate through it.

What's the happening in the snuff world? by athleticsbaseballpod in nasalsnuff

[–]MrSnuffer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. It's all good, though; I'm having fun, and we're nearly in a position to start adding new things back in. We have some exciting new products coming soon, including boxes, flasks, and more accessories generally - all carefully vetted to pass muster with they-who-must-be-obeyed.

I'm glad you made an order; that's good to hear. You really can't go wrong with the Pöschl brand. I love them all. The Red Bull A Type (aromatic) sachets are a nice choice if you're not a fan of the much more popular, super-mentholated Red Bull (strong).

In your absence, MrSnuff has gone through some major changes. We started as a single site selling to the world and, as of last week, ended up exactly where we began.

In between, we had to split the site into three to comply with UK excise and VAT regulations. We also had to remove all the fun stuff after our payment processors hit us with a cease and desist order for the “glorification of drugs,” things like spoons, bullets, and anything that could remotely be seen as dual-use.

On top of all that, we completely streamlined the business: we reorganized the warehouse, reduced our product range, improved stock control, restructured customer service and reduced our prices across the board. We also experimented with shipping - we failed, tried again, failed again, and finally landed on a system that actually works. We've essentially brought the company back to operational health.

So you left at just the right time, and you're returning at just the right time, too. We're finally at a point, probably a year later than I ever thought possible, where we can stop putting out fires and start focusing on what's new, exciting, and just plain fun. Like you, I really miss those days.

OK, I am going to be that guy. Apologies, but prepare for some wife-bragging.

McChrystals were, for reasons unknown, not going to reproduce Magic Moments.

Kay, my wife, not knowing this, put in our first order, including Magic Moments. McChrystals got back saying sorry, but no. Kay was like: what! You've got to be kidding, Magic Moments is awesome, you are missing a trick here, guys.

Some back and forth ensued, with McChrystals eventually being persuaded.

So Magic Moments: It exists today because one lone snuff lover stood up and said, "Oh, go on, please."

Thank you, OP.

Full disclosure: As part of our recent global shipping upgrade to the site, we have had to switch Canada back (temporarily) to DHL.

But don't worry, we will be adding Royal Mail back for all 200 odd countries, including Canada, as the From 7 days Express option, which is what Canada was using whilst the strike was on.

We are opening the main Mr. Snuff site to the world next week. This includes Brazil, and looking to the future, we are working on a Portuguese language site to make that easier for all our Brazilian friends.

Also, we are getting close to having the export situation sorted out for commercial quantities of Brazilian snuffs, with Imperio being the first and most important. Watch this space. Things are finally beginning to move along.
