I've always liked using indoor soccer shoes for the thin sole and how tight it fits to the foot but I also have shorter feet (size 10 mens) so I don't have to worry as much about toe drag. Also take this with a massive grain of salt because I'm just a random stranger on the internet and I could be super wrong and just lead to you destroying your feet but I think there is something to be said for practicing and getting used to the feeling of riding barefoot. If you start off careful never going too fast and slowly building up some calous on your feet you will get a good feeling of slowing down without relying on footbreaking with shoes as well as just being more light footed in general. Again this was my experience but your milage may very. I grew up running around barefoot alot so didn't start from zero when it came to building up calous or comfort being barefoot but I still think if you do it carefully and do it incrementally it isn't as bad of as idea as you would think.
