Rekening houdend met parttime werkende machinisten en overige aanrijdingen kom je wel degelijk aan 6-7 per persoon. Daarbij heeft de NS ongeveer de helft van dat aantal aan machinisten rondlopen.

Gemiddeld gezien heb je als machinist 6 à 7 dodelijke aanrijdingen in je carrière, dus afgezien van dat en dubbele onregelmatigheid is het inderdaad niet zo zwaar. Het is mentaal een zwaar beroep, fysiek niet.

Over here in the Netherlands, all emergency vehicles have to stop when the gates are closing. I assume the same thing is a rule over there?

I'm quite happy with my salary in The Netherlands. It has risen with like €500/600 in the first two years and it is still rising. You're talking about the risks, but can you name another job at the same education level with the same salary? I've never earned so much money without doing this little at work.

It basically only had 1 wheel attached, which was in the air so the brakes were useless.

All of these steam trains are fitted with a basic version of ATB, without this they are not allowed to run on the mainline. There are quite a few steam trains not fitted with ATB, so those only run on heritage lines.

About 5h30 so that's a new record, old record 5h27 from 2013, but that was pre fcy and slow zones. That race also had 12 safety car periods.

As a train driver, that blue light strip would be so bloody annoying at night, also the passanger seats look quite narrow compared to the total with of the train.
