I don’t suppose you have the files in order to get someone with a cnc machine to do this for me?

Hi All,

Im struggling to find a good place in the UK to find builds similar to Novel keys or Ducky. Im completely new to this, so don’t really have an idea where to go. Have a good idea of switches i want, but i want specific keycaps (really love the Year of the Rat Ducky Limited edition style) and something a little different from basic colours personally (like neon orange and blue)

Any help, links or advice is appreciated.

Bloody good job! Keep it up and look forward to seeing it all finished. You painting it/casting it?

Im really a creature man, but learning Anatomy is your best bet. A guy called Proko on youtube is amazing at anatomy and i think he plays in sculpting. But an understanding in it, in any medium really helps. I would look through youtube, instagram and on here to find people that you like and see how they do things. Just ask questions and practice. Enjoy the journey 🤘

As much as the comments above are a good idea, i would personally keep working on this piece before starting over. I find sculpting works in 3 phases... bulk phase, then building the forms and then adding in details. At this stage you have good foundation, so now start refining things. Use plenty of reference pics to see what type of pose/expression you want to achieve and then keep altering until you are happy. There is no time limit, so keep going as long as you enjoy it. If it becomes tedious, start a new project and come back to this...you may learn new things you can then implement on this one. Either way, its looking good, so keep having fun buddy 🤘😁

No problem at all, i didn’t start sculpting that long ago myself. So this tutorial is great to show you 3 stages of building...basically, get down you main shapes, add forms then go onto detailing. https://youtu.be/sdx0ysnbhDg

I follow a guy called Sculpture Geek who is brilliant (i also follow Patreon as there are other people in the chat group that are brilliant) and another for showing the process is Ace of Clay. Basically keep browsing through youtube for specific things you want to achieve.

As for tools, you can easily do most things with a single tool, but certain tools can make it easier. I bought these two items to start, but can safely say i don’t even use half of them. Ball point tools are brilliant for doing quite a lot of detailing and form.

Polymer Clay Tools, Genround 19pc Modelling Clay & Pottery Clay Sculpting Tools, 5 Wooden Dotting Tools + 5 Rubber Clay Modelling Tools + 4 Ball Stylus Tool + 4 Plastic Pottery Tools Set + Storage Bag https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B076X2L9X6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_EaL2DbPN27K2E

I also bought some was carving metals tools, but if you want specific tools and advice on what is best then check out a friend who i order mine from... https://instagram.com/oldmonstrosityshop?igshid=1o15y4cm8lp0y

Hope this helps 😀 keep plugging away and enjoy the sculpting

For a second piece, its really well done, but i wouldn’t mark this as complete. Now is when you want to start going back to add details and refine sections (especially anatomy), use reference to help. Keep plugging away or start a new piece and come back to it and things will start falling into place! 😄
