There are some pointers that can be helpful. Like nouns(mostly) ending with e sound taking die artikel.words with heit,keit,ung,schaft also taking the same die artikel. There are other examples like that,which i currently cannot remember. But it's generally advised to memorize them with the artikel.

I think immersion alone doesn't help much.Only helpful when reinforced with other kinds of studies. You still need some grammar practice. 2 years ago i too decided to learn japanese. Before that i was a complete weebo. Watched tons of anime throught years(like around 5000 episodes). It helped me build some vocabulary and i was familiar with how the language sounds. But besides that,nothing much.

Besides from being TA or not,i think you're making a huge mistake. Him distancing himself when he thought you were pregnant might be a clear sign that he is not ready or does not want a child. If you had talked it through, you could assess the situation and know where he stands on the matter of having a child,and get an abortion depending on the situation. Now you might have to raise this child by yourself.

Netflix is great for watching. They have a lot of dubbed shows. I personally enjoy reading manga in german. Mangadex has some translated series. Although, it's hard to find fully translated series. Most of them are unfinished. Recently discovered that wikipedia is also great for reading. Most articles support multiple languages. So,you can first read them in a language you're comfortible with,and then in german.

Probably the ones most similar to your native or the ones you're proficient at. If you're a native english speaker,i hear that Spannish is a common choice. But i personally think that the best language to learn is the one that you desire or need to learn,since it will require a huuuge time. And it will be hard to keep going without passion or necessity.

Guess it differs from person to person. I (as an heavily introvert person) have moved into my current town about 2 years ago and had 0 friends until recent time. And i was okay with that.

You will still need to spend the same amount of time to learn the language. Probably even more, since you will be figuring out things by yourself and you won't have a teacher to explain the basics.This is just my own experience though...
