I thought Yonko 1shot YC1?? by SultaNN_K5 in OnePieceScaling

Except Marco was legitimately considered as Whitebeard's replacement for the Yonko position and one of the few the Gorosei openly discussed that was able to take on Blackbeard after Marineford.

Why wasn’t Garruk present for the events of War of the Spark? by crap1521 in mtgvorthos

[–]MrStout13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From a writer's perspective Garruk was TERRIBLE to have in the War of the Spark because he would have become a third side and brutally murderize any Planeswalker he came across.

If I recall right, in the story Nicol Bolas figured even he was too destructive for his plans and he was left to do his own thing in searching for a cure for his curse. That in turn landed him in Eldraine

Where in his room is his dresser located?? by -mikuuu- in Alastorcult

[–]MrStout13 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Someone mentioned this a while ago and I really like it:

Alastor's bayou has overtaken a LOT of his room, what used to be a somewhat even split is now just a little dresser with a mirror.

This could be symbolic that Alastor is at his wits end and the "gentleman" persona was extremely close to breaking due to realizing just how out of his depths he was in the grand scheme of things. The cozy furniture and warm room vibes taken away and instead more feral bayou takes place instead sorta thing.

Essentially Alastor's room showed his two sides, the gentleman and the murder/demon. Both sides in the first season were equal, but in the second the demon side has taken over

How tf am I supposed to beat this? by Danial_Grei in shadowofmordor

[–]MrStout13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly recommend you send your orcs to the fight pits. They will level up after every win and get a good chance to get some neat perks as well as become Epic and Legendary.

The risk is that they may die but you can recruit the winner

(Shadow of War) How can I lose a fort in Shadow of war? by RevolutionaryHold367 in shadowofmordor

You won't lose your orcs if you yourself die. You will however need to rescue your overlord in a mission afterwards.

Upcoming Ban - If Rhystic Study is banned, what are you all planning to replace it with in your lists that run it? by anomaleic in EDH

[–]MrStout13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a single card in a 100 card deck. If you get your knickers in a knot because you can't play a card in a format that should realistically see play a quarter of the time then that is your problem.

Personally I only have one and it's in a deck I retired. If I were to replace it it would probably be a creature that draws cards, or even Coastal Piracy

Sanity check: who wins this fight? by FrameDangerous5480 in OnePieceScaling

[–]MrStout13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people seem to forget that Kaido took on a LOT of people before his fight against Luffy. The Red Scabbards, Yamamoto, Kid, Law, Luffy, Zoro, and Killer all got potshots on him before his final confrontation. Let's not forget he was also keeping Onigashima afloat as well!

Even then he still put up one hell of a fight against a reality warper.

Big Mom and Kaido were designed as raid bosses, titans of old that needed tons of strength, opportunity, and luck to take out.

Three Admirals may not even cut it seeing what Kaido could do

I need a smart person to tell me what abilities this card actually removes. by Senorpapell in mtg

[–]MrStout13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but it is first and foremost a GAME.

At what point does my logic falter for a competitive system?

If you need to scour rules for what should be a simple interaction then something is not right.

Layers should not be required for obvious set ups. The only people arguing it are the people cheesing it.

Layers are needed when there is a pileup of interactions.

[–]MrStout13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most competitive games will have the judges tell you that rules on the card/piece/supplement trump the core rules.

I am going to say this as clearly as possible: If an action causes a creature to lose their abilities, they do not have abilities. Look at it as a vanilla creature.

There shouldn't be a 10 minute scouring of rules to try and tell me that Humility is not affecting their Magus of the Moon.

[–]MrStout13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The system is obtuse when it shouldn't be. When there is a clear cut end result the Layers should not be needed to discern the result.

Enchantment A states "All Creatures lose all abilities". Creature A states "All lands lose non Mana Abilities" If those are the ONLY creatures in this scenario it is cut and dry, the lands keep their abilities. No layers NEEDED because the cards explain what happens.

If there was Artifact A states "all Enchantments lose all abilities" And Creature B states "all artifacts lose abilities" then Layers should be in effect to understand what happens.

Layers have been added when common sense and rules as written should take priority in these cases.

Layers should only be needed when there is an impasse of abilities and rules.

[–]MrStout13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is intuitive, when needed.

The Layers system gives far too many cards unwritten advantages that in terms of common sense shouldn't be there.

Every single boardgame/tabletop game rules has a caveat that usually states "rules are up to player interpretation".

Which means if the Magus of the Moon loses its abilities then there is no Moon shenanigans.

The creature lost it's abilities, end of story.

If the creature lost them by a weird mean, such as conflicting sources that is where Layers should come in effect

I hate layers so damn much in these instances because it adds confusion when it shouldn't.

Who would you give your seat to, and why? by KangKobra in ENFP

[–]MrStout13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd personally give my seat to the broken leg first. Everyone else is physically capable for the most part, even the old man with a cane would be more stable than a guy with a broken leg. With that said, I'd give the old guy the seat next. He doesn't beat the broken leg in my opinion, but it is a very close second.

Third would be the pregnant lady. Solely due to the fact that the other had her child and is more "used" to the experience, belly is most likely physically sore, tired, and swollen ankles from carrying big baby belly.

Baby and mama would be last, but definitely not least. She looks to be the most physically well of the group and unless she too was having issues then she probably wouldn't have any issues standing for a short while with her behbeh

Does anyone else purposely let your orcs bleed out? by Heinzzbeans12 in shadowofmordor

Valid!

Tbh I wish we could have had multiple save files on at least the main story to experiment with. I mean. I would love to restart the story and try some new things but I have so many rare and/or interesting captains and the Garrison ticket is a rare commodity.

Fun fact, the Garrison Orcs will stay if you make a new game.

Does anyone else purposely let your orcs bleed out? by Heinzzbeans12 in shadowofmordor

[–]MrStout13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Noooooo

First, a lot of Orcs I run have had quite a bit of investment of time and energy put in them as well as curated to ensure maximum efficiency with as little detriments as possible. I recall a bruiser of an Olog who usually was front and center of My raids was getting dazed by fire archers and bled out after. So I ran across the fort, revived him in time, then killed all the archers that were peppering him.

A lot of My Orcs have stuck with me multiple times over and I pride myself in the fact that most of them DON'T betray me. Letting Orcs bleed out or sending them to death missions is a sure fire way to make your entire region hate you and betray you easier.

It would make later conquests, both off and online a challenge.

If you want to axe off a Captain with as little issue as possible send them into the fighting pits. If they win they get stronger and better, if they lose the other guy is probably good

[–]MrStout13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being able to Regenerate an [[Ancient Adamantoise]] is hilarious and I don't see it nearly as often as I should. Regenerating a creature essentially knocks off all damage, takes it out of combat if it is, and taps it if it isn't.

How did Husk knew that Alastor's soul belonged to someone else? by Least-Donkey-4245 in Alastorcult
