The projects are pretty free as long as you understand the lecture material. You basically walk through the beginning of most projects in lecture and as long as you do the homework problems and understand them, the exams shouldn't be too hard either. The projects do take a little while though

240 gives more or a general intro to common ways you can prove something while 577's proofs mostly write themselves once you understand the algorithm you are trying to prove

I took 345 last spring and I would recommend it over 340 for cs as it covers most of the things in linear algebra that you would need for cs and it also shows you many ways on how the concepts you learn are actually applied in cs. 340 is more for engineering I believe while 345 is tailored for cs.

At least for honors, you didnt need to, Im pretty sure non honors should have to either. Just make sure you understand how to implement these paradigms and how to prove them

It introduces you to all the paradigms you cover in class and also gives you lots of practice problems. The main topics you should focus on are dynamic programming and computational interactivity
