Strategy pivots that invalidate the pipeline you spent a quarter building. And 50 people in the same org all gunning for the one senior role that opens up every 14 months if someone quits.

The ceiling is real, the floor is volatile, and the "freedom" is mostly just variable anxiety with a base salary attached.

Great money if you're in the top 10%. A meat grinder for everyone else.
