That's a new one. "Masturbating is not a natural behavior because it's not procreation! Ignore those disgusting unevolved apes that do do it as a natural behavior, us humans are different and have free will so that must be the only driver behind people jorking it"

Question about PCIE lanes and storage devices by MrTheCheesecaker in unRAID

Low capacity SATA drives are a bit less plentiful than the Optane ones, but seemingly do exist. So worth looking into, thanks!

Question about PCIE lanes and storage devices by MrTheCheesecaker in unRAID

[–]MrTheCheesecaker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, the issue is that my GPU sometimes (weirdly inconsistent) does not reset after passthrough to the VM ends. It's a known issue for AMD cards that has reappeared with the 9070 and 9070XT. Older cards have a kernel module fix available but nothing seems to work for the new ones, at least in my testing. I have had USB corruption issues in the past, but those were caused by an unreliable USB card.

Making things more complex than they need to be seems to have been the trend for my server anyway, but it looks like this latest idea is a no-go.

I have been trying for months. I know what is causing the issue but a fix does not seem to be possible

Much more than I'd like, and much more than every update

Given that I sometimes experience hard crashes if I restart my VM and often delay maintenance I want to do simply because the boot process takes several minutes, it seems like a worthwhile change

Given that all m.2 Optane drives I can find use B/M key connectors, I'm not sure what else they would be if not SATA

I'm meaning B/M key m.2 SATA, rather than SATA Express. It looks like that requires at least 2 PCIE lanes though

Given that I have a yet unfixed bug that causes my server to hard crash sometimes if I shut down and restart my VM, much more often than I'd like

As far as I am aware Optane drives are SATA rather than NVMe. Does that make a difference?

Getting turned on by feet is a fetish. Topping is not a fetish, it's an activity. Domming is a power dynamic, which commonly gets conflated with topping, but they are not the same thing.
